Frequent these forums, sign up, train for and complete an IM distance tri, Britisky. Simple. And wear the yellow and black. Oh, and say 'Ya-haaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh' a lot.
Slight warning. Yellow doesn't suit anyone and it attracts flies.
On the plus side, it also attracts plenty of attention and support at races which is a good thing.
I tried out my black cycling bib-shorts, and my wife called me Borat. They made my glycogen store stick out in a most unappealing way. Now that I've lost half a stone the image is a bit more Fit Athlete than Fat A....
I don't think lycra's very forgiving on anyone tbh.
I can vouch for that, I have just seen the photos from the tri this weekend and I look really fat, it's enough to make you cry but it is still worth wearing the black un yellow
I did my first Tri on Sunday after 3 swim lessons, 1 month on bike and 2 months running MAD (& finished), and I've had Ironman dreams for 25 yrs. I felt a bit out of it on Sunday (too clicky and pro!) and I've always been an outsider but reading this thread and looking at the yellow kit - I WANT to be a PIRATE TOO! Where do I get the kit and how do I get the sign (been on website too but doesn't explain exactly).
PS I have about 10 Ironman books and watched countless U Tube vids!
Pleeeeeze can I be one? My kids would be so proud!

go have a nosey round on the tri forums.
'Clicky/ pro and Pirates 'doesn't compute in the same sentence though
I hate clicks so I'd def prefer the pirate attitude.
M...eldy - ye my kids would fall laughing - but then again they are used to it with me - my 17.1 TB gelding has a full pink wardrobe with the brightest pink turnout rug ever made!!! I see your pic is on a horse - u pirates are def up my street!
I could even ride my horses in the kit (can discard the yellow safety vest! lol)
Riodog - as long as you can down a few post-race beers you will make a great pirate!
Look for the kit thread - usually there is an order about twice a year, the kit is specially made for us by Louis Garneau in Canada. You get the Pirate flag by asking RW to put it up for you. Simples!

"Is there any connection between pirates and pilates?" Yes, if you're Chinese and have trouble with your rrrrrrrs.
What about pirates and plates?
This is the pirate archetype that most aspire to.
You should ask yourself, "Can I measure up? Will I be the envy of my friends? Am I, in fact, butch enough to carry this look off?"
If you answer no to any of these questions, give up now.
Sometimes saying "I'm glad I didn't" is better than saying "I wish I had".
The 'All things pirate' link on the website doesn't seem to say much at all.
Methinks pirates are techy tri folk who can navigate forums and stuff and, well, just get how websites and things work???
And I love the yellow ...

You don't join the Pirates so much as declare yourself one of them.

I love that your kids would be proud if you were a pirate
History would dictate the first time you put the kit on they will either run for the hills, call Childline or fall about laughing
As Postie says .. have a nose round the Tri section, get involved and get doing
