Morning

The mama pajama rolled out of bed. And she ran to the police station

Thought i start the thread today if you don't mind i actually yesterday woke up with this song in my head i swear i was dreaming it couldn't work out why. tonight i heard it at work this is why

What: 2-3 miles
Why: keeping it enjoyable and fun
Last Hard: Sunday
Lyrics I reckon Alehouse might know hopefully one or two others

Comments

  • Morning

No idea re todays lyrics: None

Yesterdays lyrics: 'Holding out for a hero' by Bonnie Tyler. Cheesy 80s I knowimage

    What:3.5M Easy/Steady

Why: My right calf is still stiff/tight, so not taking any risks.

    Catch up time.

Drizzly rain and cool when out.

  • Morning.

chickadeee - keep monitoring (and responding too!) that RHR - if it's too high you know you shouldn't be doing.

    Wabo - great news.

birkmyre - hope the calf eases soon.

MadameO - do you think you might be low in iron?

    What:           nothing
    Why:            doing as I say
Last hard:     my body thinks it was yesterday
    Last rest:      28/5

    Lyrics - no.

Had my longest swim session (which included my lesson) in about four weeks yesterday including swimming continuous 400s (longest I've swum without a rest since being ill). Apart from being woefully slow the session wasn't too bad, my stroke is still ok, just weak, but it wiped me out, in bed before 2100hrs and RHR through the roof again this morning image

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

    Morning!

Sorry, Pammie, have let you down as I had to google the lyrics. I know them, of course, and will be there shortly myself.

What: really don't know what to do!
Why: the dilemma is whether I do something to strengthen the calves or will it cause more damage?

The weather is good for the garden today!

    Back later.

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.

LmH, ALeH - hope you recover asap
lyric- no idea, didnt end up getting yesterdays either, which I'm quite pleased about having found out what they were!!
yesterday - an easy half hour over the fields with the lambs getting bigger by the day. Came back quite hungry haviung spent the last 30 minutes wondering whether we had mint sauce in the house.
Today - something easy, or perhaps the club session if those morons at the garage finally concede that we should have a courtesy car after all (given they ordered the wrong part and it will now be "2-3 days" not the 7 ot 8 hours we were told on Monday...)  - sorry was I ranting....
    have a great day

  • Lyrics: yes! Two in a row, I feel like Paul Gambaccini.

Long run of 14-16 miles later while the rains have returned, I just cannot hack this daytime heat at all. Worried about Lakeland Trails half-mara on July 1st, race starts at 10am, it could be a real broiler.

Anyone racing over the extended weekend? Just the Preston parkrun for me and a couple of decent runs.

  • WaboWabo ✭✭✭

Ha ha! I know pammie's lyrics!Well I think I do because I just keep singing something...

alehouse, hope you make the right decision!

oh lmh, poor you, more warm well vibes your way

possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can
  • Wabo: I just got back from the Netherlands, I'd love to run or bike it around there! So flat and the bike paths seem to go through some beautiful spots! Watch out for the extensive roadworks around Rotterdam (and Delft if you pass through).

  • WaboWabo ✭✭✭

why thanks 7D, will do, excited isn't the word right now! Flat sounds pretty good to me, have done enough hills lately

possunt quia posse videntur - we can because we know we can

wabo: well done! Isn't it great to feel strong in a race? Totally understand how missing your daughter and the extended family wear you down. Not an easy situation to deal with. Are they coming over soon or do you have plans to travel there again? That bike weekend in Holland sounds great! Enjoy image

RFJ: good progression in the rankings. Well done. Sounds like a tough race.

alehouse: sorry to hear about your dilemma. Always a tough call image. How about trying some exercises and if there's pain then stop?

LMH: thanks for posting about iron. I've been a bit lax in taking my supplements. Must do better going forward image

MadameO: Rammstein are great for intervals and hill sprints. Those boys get you moving image. As for their lyrics: image

    what: 6 miles very easy
why: scheduled rest day but I felt like I wanted to be out there and run
    last hard: Monday
    last rest: 27/5
lyrics: yes actually (Mr Chick is a huge fan)

  • emzapemzap ✭✭✭

    AFternoon all.

What: tossing up whether to go to core

Why: I'm having a CBA day!  Need to decide by 3pm though to cancel!

Wabo congratulations on the race, it's nice to feel everything come together.

MadameO it was an interesting debut.  Very pleased with the time, but organisation was appauling and have been suffering the consequences of that!

    RFJ good race

HUmmm don't mention German to me, my learning is not going well.  In fact, I'm going to listen to the langen sprachen news right now and see if I can understand any of it!

    Have a good day all.

  • DustinDustin ✭✭✭

sorry Wabo, overlooked congratulations to you for last nights race! Also to RFJ for the summer series - all moving in the right direction.
googled the lyric - still none the wiser with the song
Happy to help with German.....if I can remember much from my 'o' level days   although I shudder when I think that was nearly 30 years ago...

Out tonight with club for a 5k handicap. Haven't done it for a while and pretty sure I haven't improved of late so expecting to get passed by the faster guys. Maybe do ParkRun Saturday morning but playing it by ear.

  • alehousealehouse ✭✭✭

    Afternoon!

Wabo, RFJ: well dones for last night. Wish I could join you!

Chick: I have a series of stretches/exercises that I am doing for the Achilles at least once daily...they have certainly made a difference in terms of muscular definition when I look at the physios videos. However there are times when these cause me problems! The main issue is at night when I often have to get out of bed rapidly because of sudden pain.

And Wabo, enjoy the cycling. And not too long until Cleo and mum are back!

Progress is rarely a straight line. There are always bumps in the road, but you can make the choice to keep looking ahead.
  • That sounds great Wabo - enjoy.

We're off visiting friends in Denmark over the weekend - and running (note - not racing) a half marathon on Sunday.

Dustin - hope the garage saw sense.

    What did you decide emzap?

Great to hear that you're feeling better chickadeee. My friend asked if I'd resisted the temptation to run today but in all honestly no willpower was required as I've felt so wiped I couldn't even contemplate it.

If you think you can or you think you can't you're probably right.

On phone so a quick me, me, me update I'm afraid.

Currently sat in car waiting to get ready for aquathlon! Ugh.

Why: get over open water swimming issues

    Last hard: this will be

Last rest: yesterday, if gardening counts!!!image

Sorry to hear some of you are still struggling! Good to see others doing well! I'll be back later or tomorrow to catch up properly!! image

  • LMH - they have parkrun in Denmark too, you near any of them?

24km after work at a very solid pace, sweated so hard in the humidity, felt like I'd been dipped in grease.
