Morning all
I'm after a little advice...
Now that the *warmer* months are here, my wife is spending a bit more time coming out cycling with me. This is to get some time together, get her out into the air and generally nice stuff.
I really enjoy this (don't get me wrong especially if Mrs84 reads this!) but I'm wondering what I can do to make it more of a training session. We go at a pretty slow speed and my heart rate rarely gets over 100bpm. I'm not keen on nipping off; we're out together and want to keep it that way. Would there be any benefit to training if I had the gears right down low and the cadance high or vice versa?
Or perhaps I should just relax and go with the flow...

You could push her up hills, you could ride a MTB her a road bike, get a tandem - but other than those I think it's just a case of enjoy it for what it is, a bike ride not a training session.
just ride over geared - very over geared if necessary - at least you will get iron quads
Well, unicycle it is, then. Damn great idea SlowEngineer!
Tow something. Weight the bike down. Use knobbly tyres
Cycle with her on the flat but do each hill a couple of times to her one. I used to do this to my ex- he hated it to be fair but maybe her ego is more robust than his
Use a fixie!
Lol!
One cycling question and the answer always involves buying another bike
Tandem
🙂
M...eldy, you say that if its a bad thing
Try using an MTB.... it may help
I am in a similar position and go and do my ride, then add a joint ride on afterwards.....
