I've never tried nibbling Sarah's toes, there is more of an appeal to it when described thus.
I have had tripe when I was a student, and experimenting. As I recall it tasted of whatever you cooked it with. The major advantage was that it was cheap. I never needed to bother again afterwards. Black pudding was much better.

Not quite the same I know - but, my mother used to make wonderful kidney soup. I was completely oblivious to what it was till I took my boyfriend home for Christmas Dinner - the look on his face when she rolled out a big pot of kidney soup was priceless. 'piss-filter soup?' he said.. I haven't had it since and I don't think my mother has either.
I do hope so.
I put my Mum off of steak and kidney pie by calling it 'lean muscle mass and urine filter pie'
I quite like liver. And kidney isn't bad - makes a gravy nice and rich.
I've never eaten heart, or tongue, or tripe. Or brawn *shudder*
Eeeew, especially the idea of eating tongue.
I don't know why that seems like the yuckiest of the three, but I suppose it's the thought of what my dinner might have chewed before I chewed it.

There was a Rick Stein programme on once - he made brawn. I remember it vividly - when he took the weight off the tin and unwrapped it, it was covered in mould
I think there's some essential punctuation missing for that to make sense?
The written word is somewhat dependent on punctuation to ensure that we convey the message we intend.
For all I know, the reason cheese has mould on it is because your gran used to make brawn.
