I made a sandwich the other day which was amazing - smoked ham, mango chutney, tomatoes, lettuce, smoked cheddar and spicy sausage, in that order. So good I almost cried
for your standard simple sandwich I would definately go for a straighforward cheese and onion, nice strong mature cheddar with plenty of red onion (although I am liking and now craving CSAM's pickled onion salad cream ensemble).
But for the king of sandwichs in a decadent sort of way I would have to go for the Club Sandwich

highly boring I know but cream cheese and cucumber is up there with the greats. And my dad's bacon and fried egg sammich is pretty damn good too!
When I'm really hungry I often crave a tuna sandwich but pickled onions with salad and salad cream is hard to beat.
I'd go with cheese and tomato too. Yum
roast beef monster munch and salad cream.....
M&S's wensleydale and carrot chutney is jolly nice!

strictly fish finger sandwiches after beer!...
When Mr Fe used to work saturday mornings we used to treat ourselves to bacon avocado and tomato with mayo and black pepper in an onion ciabbata roll.
....Heston Kittenkat.
Chicken & Bacon with fresh salad crusty bread
Hummus with roasted peppers when I'm feeling virtuous.
Otherwise the BLT with mayo overload.
Sausage, bacon, egg, melted cheese, black pepper, ketchup, English mustard.
Or slightly less heart attack inducing:
Ham, rocket, olive oil, black pepper, piccalilli or chutney.
I have seen a number of contenders on Man V Food - what daytime telly is all about. Why watch Jeremy Kyle when there is food porn out there?
nobody has mentioned the mighty chip butty - only one food group - starch in starch - but hard to beat sometimes, especially with ketchup
I have never ever had a chip butty. I love chips, love sandwiches but find the thought of combining the two completely
Tuna mayo with red onion & sliced peach for me or BLT on white toast.
Cheese and salad on really nice bread.
Or one of my favourites for lunch is hummous, grated carrot and chilli heat wave doritos.
PS
Have to agree the Chip Butty White bread, butter, chips to excess with salt and pepper !! (For those that want to go continental HP sauce)
The ultimate sandwich would be me sandwiched between Myleene Klass and Tess Daley.
Cranberry and brie OR bacon and brie with brown baguette.
A bromide sandwich for you!
Bacon for me. Crispy bacon, thick, fluffy, white bread, HP sauce.
Sausage on a white floury bap (can this still be called a sandwich?) with HP sauce.
Or the classic ham, cheese and coleslaw (which my daughter always has with pineapple as well)
I think anything involving a filling and a bread type product is a sandwich
Hash browns and a fried egg is a pretty good sandwich.
Anything involving egg that isn't cake is not food.
Dairylea & Walkers worcester sauce crisps
Salad sandwich with cheese and pickle. yum
