  • 7D yeah, love the trails over the tarmac any day image Also there's a degree of "familiarity breeds contempt" with this route as it's on my doorstep and I do laps of Fairhaven and go up Lytham Prom on a fairly regular basis, so it's nothing special to me anymore.

    Also, the inescapable fact is that for me (at over 15 stone), pounding the tarmac does me few favours. I'm fine up to around 9 or 10 miles but beyond that I really suffer the next few days. The hips, back and calves are proof today.

    I find the undulations, generally softer going and variations of terrain on the trail a lot more forgiving, which in turn tends to make it more enjoyable.

    Hopefully as the weight keeps coming down it will get easier!

    Still enjoyed it though, I thought the organisation and atmosphere was pretty good and it was good to see a decent turn out from such a wide area.

     

  • I run round the lake all the time too. It was different on the day.
