Crossing the second shipping lane now, roughly halfway although that doesn't mean too much as there's tides involved, they won't be swimming straight etc (click on Hist on the link to see how snaking their route has been so far).
Roughly halfway between England and France now though. Conditions are apparently like a washing mchine, Caz just out of her third leg
I was just about to ask whether anyone has pressed the "show track" icon. In distance terms they have already swum the width of the Straits of Dover, and they are approximately half way there.
Mega good luck to them/ to you all. Conditions like a washing machine? Doesn't sound good. I can't imagine that it's appealling having to go back in the water for your second, third, or fourth stint. It must be mentally gruelling not having any distance references either. I've got major league respect to anyone who gives this challenge a serious go, and Caz is serious.
I've a nasty feeling they've bailed out, the boat is heading towards England at a speed greater than it's done so far so unlikely to be alongside a swimmer

was looking at the map earlier and thought: that 'Spirit of Britain' must be with a very quck swimmer.
Now I see my mistake.
The tide has turned nd have light rain. Caz has just finished her second leg
How is she doing Bear?!
Great news so far Cannot imagine doing this....eek!

Looks like the tide's turning again - I'm guessing that's what's leading to the dramatic changes in direction.
Me & mrs P have been following all day, can you tell Caz were rooting for her please Bear?
On holidays but just had to pop in to see how the team arte going and to to sned positive vibes......keep swimming...........
Outstanding job, that team.
Hope all are well. swim strong
Texts have died so I'm guessing they're out of range. Lots of zig zagging, they've been going parallel to the coast for a while
*bites fingernails nervously*

I hope not Caz would be so disappointed even though she's done so brilliantly
I think it's turned back
(((swimmers)))
Praying everyone is safe and well
Caz has just sent a text to Bear, they are heading back
Just got a text to that effect. LJS seasick and suffering from cold.
Sounds like the weather was appalling
It'll be good to have them back on dry land after a very valiant effort
Hope everyone is ok. The route taken looks very long, must have been a tough sea to be in today.
Arse
Still, an amazing effort - huge congratulations to everyone involved, they should all be proud of a fantastic achievement.
Me too
