Ok then. Pressed quote. Get message saying quote has been stored ok. Tells me to do something with something I have not got. Tried to paste- nothing.
Tried clicking on " again nothing.
Without trying to sound too hacked off. Can one of you guys who has clearly succeeded in pasting a quote please tell me exactly what you actually did and with what tools which I clearly do not have. Thanks.
hover over the person's post and a little blue quote box pops up in the bottom right - click that. then on your message box, click the quotation marks in top right above the box, and the quote gets pasted in. and you can edit that as you see fit and then type what you want. that's on a PC by the way - it may be different on a smart phone

Ok then I've got the little blue box.
Clicked that....easy.
Click the quotation marks in top right above the box................sorry, there are no quotation marks to be clicked. I'm on a PC.
It may be easier to take a scren shot of what you are seeing.... seems to be that everything is working like ours right up until you click the quotation marks to copy the quote onto text ...
There's no toolbar. It only appears if I've logged out. Then there's a box with 'your say' with a handy toolbar. When I log in, there's no toolbar anywhere. I can follow instructions pretty well but if one of the components is missing then not a lot I can do. I just wondered how anyone else got around this problem as I assumed it was universal.
Yes that's correct. No smiley images at all. I did wonder why others were posting just a string of words, /forum/smilies/smile_ etc. As well as that, pound signs come out as a pair of question marks.
Could it be that my system is filtering out things it perceives as risky?
Didn't think anything like this was possible, once again I assumed the Forum page was universally benign and not prone to individual variations.
Google Chrome, does that mean anything? maybe, maybe not.
RicF - the answer is simple - go to My Forum under your forum name in the top left of the screen.
on there you will see a list of Forum Settings (you may need to click the arrow to the left to open it up). at the bottom is Forum Editor. check Advanced WYSIWYG Editor.
go back to the forum, refresh the page (F5), and you should now see a toolbar at the top of the message box which has everything you're missing.
this used to be crap in Chrome browser but since the changes it works well
