Some don't like a sentence to start with "But" or "And" though I think it can add something to the written word. Can you put a , straight after a ". Now I'm not sure you can do the same with a .?

I was taught at school not to begin sentences with 'but' or 'and', as they are words which link parts of sentences together.

Are you asking if you can put a comma after inverted commas? If you are, then I think the answer is yes. Inverted commas are used to indicate that you are quoting something. You could need a comma after the closing pair.
You wouldn't need a comma after a question mark, as that should be at the end of a sentence.
I'd like to be young enough to have been at school when the lottery started!

If you are quoting someone, it would be correct.
Two examples of quotation marks and puctuation:
A comma after 'lesson' would be better.
If you're wasting a fiver a week on the lottery in the belief that you have a good chance of winning, you are a mug!
