I do not recommend this. In order to prevent toenail damage I laced my shoes in this way which led to tendinitis across the top of my foot, hydrocortisone injections and about 3 months off.

"Cow" is in general use as a singular for the collective "cattle", despite the objections by those who insist it to be a female-specific term. Although the phrase "that cow is a bull" is absurd from a lexicographic standpoint, the word "cow" is easy to use when a singular is needed and the sex is unknown or irrelevant – when "there is a cow in the road", for example.
It's okay to use the word 'cow' to mean a singular cattle of either sex.

I actually remember reading this tip in the mag ages ago and now tie my laces this way. It had naff all to do with sliding heels but does help me achieve a snug fit and I actually think it's worth a mention.
