Gunner - same here as I have not really enjoyed it and weather has been crap, feeling more and more sluggish, can't wait to get this marathon season over with. They may be my last - but we will wait and see. Barcelona marathon in 2 weeks then Brighton and London .
Gunner no definitely no PB attempted this year just want to make shore i don’t let my Daughter down by under training as I’m running with her this year she ran Brighton last year afterwards set herself to goals one to lose 3st in weight which she’s done and the second was to take 2hrs of her marathon time which is what a I’m hoping to help her achieve
Awful 17 miler yesterday no sun where I live and gale force winds meant it felt like running while someone was pushing me back. Fingers crossed Cambridge half marathon next weekend is more calm weather. Still managed 11 - 11.5 min miles though so def fitter than I thought. Some good long runs all not long now!
Well that s the second run of the toughest week i have done 11 miles for me today notably slower that Bath yesterday can’t believe it’s only 5 weeks till Brighton only seem like yesterday we were standing on the start line last year
Some good long runs being put in over the weekend i see keep up the good work all
Gaz: I can recommend energy bars for when you get hungry and tired of gels, water, drinks etc. I find a bit of solid-ish food goes down well. This works for me on my LSR's
my second 30km run yesterday went well, but really trying hard to avoid the coughs and colds that my kids have. I'm gonna look like a vitamin soon!
Good running over the weekend all, and well done to those that got PB's.
Thanks Wenty, Tracey G and Safer. Official chip time same as my Garmin so definitely 15:30 mins faster than Swindon Half last October and a new pb.
Congratulations Tracey G on your new pb.
Gaz - little flapjack squares seem to do the job for me, Toby and Snowmaiden, along with my Kendal mint cake. Seem to need real food rather than gels to keep me going on my long runs.
Morning all, 5.5 miles of intervals last night with hill sprints very tired legs this morning. I'm doing Cambridge half marathon on Sunday should I be slowing down my week runs now? The plan doesn't look like it but I feel if I do a 7 mile easy today and 5 mile tempo tomorrow like it says my legs won't have had any rest
Soph, if you feel tired scrap one of your runs. I always take 2-3 rest days before a half. you will get more benefit from the half so concentrate on that.
Tracy - i would take it easy for most of the week - certainly from today till sunday with no hard runs and i would not run for last 3 days before the race but some people like gentle runs.
Snowmaiden down for a couple of day's so were out for a 22 today this will give us a chance to see what pace we need to run to hit her target time 5:10:

I got a GFA last year at Brighton, which. Is why I am running London this year.
I don't go past 20 normally as not much to be gained, and may be more to be lost with recovery time unless you are used to running long.
Reading Half done today in 1h 29m 12s. Delighted seeing as I'd been full of a cold all week. Can't believe 5 weeks today the race will be done!

An encouraging 20 Mile LSR for me yesterday on an undulating route. Much hillier than Brighton will be and averaged 8:13 pace comfortably.
Well comfortably until 18 miles when I was absolutely starving. Who can recommend what to keep my belly full for longer?.
Keep up the good work all, we're nearly there.
Wel done soph - I went out yesterday for a short run and it was rather windy.
Afternoon all

Poohbear - congratulations on your new half marathon pb
Ran Silverstone half marathon yesterday in 2:12:12 PB by 6 seconds. The best bit is I've not run this fast for 5 years

Well done Tracey! I ran it too - 2 mins slower than last year. I hate the walk back to the cars afterwards!

Flat footed thanks mate What time are you going for at Brighton?
anyone else doing the surrey spitfire 20? If I'm not mistaken it is on exactly the last day before a 3 week taper. I'm using it to do my last long run
Time to fess up - I'm doing Brighton this year (missed it 2 years ago due to illness).
My longest run so far is 13.1 miles (done 4 this year and 3 in 3 weeks) - I wll do a 15 and a 16 in the next two weeks adn then survive on the day.

andy p - Arghhhh - you dont care do you! that could be a painful final 6-10 miles.
Wenty - I agree - I've been trying to shake a chest infection and now it seems to have finally gone (fingers crossed)
I'll enjoy most of the race I'm sure - espec the end
