OO - you'll be seeing my very long pole on Sunday...at 11 miles and 23.5 miles, according to the Oracle that is Radar Sal. It'll have a Wales flag attached to it and may be accompanied by 3 screaming women (Suzy is going to be there too, yahoo!)
OO - you're speedy, aren't you? We're going to be waiting until all paris threaders pass and some others are going to be taking it at a slower pace so we might not get to 23.5 in time.
So...spread the word, the long poles will be at just after 11 and approx 23.5 miles. The code word is PARIS or BRISTOL or CONVOCATION...or pounce on us for a a big sweaty hug (you bring the sweat to the party).
TP - I was thinking when I was walking around yesterday that I wished I was doing London next weekend. Originally we thought we'd still be there and thought it would be awesome to go and support. Now I'm well jealous that you're all going for a bit of fun supporting! I'd love to be waving a flag above the masses!
I may well get in trouble for it, but I'm going to try and enter going forward, I mean what's the realistic likelihood that I'd actually get in?? I could try for years and years and never get a gander...
Dannir - that's terrible news about your son too. I'm sure with some hospital and mum attention he'll be right as rain soon.
Maus, you know they only have the best people in Melb, with a full encyclopaedia as well. They'll work out what's going on
Fyi was in Bath the other day (minds, gutters, come on!) and there were SO many runners out, for a small and substantially hilly town! I was very surprised! Has made me want to re-evaluate my standard runs at home, I want to make them harder and hilly-er, so it's easier at race time. That, or maybe add in a hill sprint session once a week?
Is it wrong to be planning your new workout schedule while you're still away on holidays?
Dan - how's your son going? Sorry, didn't say earlier HUGS to you all!!!
Maus - how's your mum doing? or still a while until oz wakes up? I had the same situation when my mum got diagnosed with cancer. not as sudden as a heart attack but the distance was awful. I now know how long it would take me to get to NZ from anywhere, drop everything and go.
FYI, we have decided on our outfits for sunday...it'll be green, BRIGHT green on top.
Thanks all for the good wishes. They spent the entire night in the Emerency Dept, finally discharged this morning. Linda took him to her hotel and he has spent the day consuming (appropriate) quantities of codeine, acetominophen and ibuprofen. It seems to have helped as he has managed to get some soup down too.
Spoke to an ENT specialist friend who told me that he needs his tonsils out as soon as he is better - and I fully agree. This has happened yearly to some extent although never this bad.
Hi Jus, my normal run has a steep hill in it and I think its good for making your legs stronger. Interval training has definitely improved my speed although I'm not planning any hill intervals any time soon. I see some running groups doing them and if I were a clubber trying to win races I guess that's something that might make you quicker. Personally I'll stick with intervals on the flats and a see what happens.
RS. TJB and TJBjnr will probably come for some pole action. I'll sort out where to meet you convocationers when I see you on Saturday.
I've not seen Tricky's pole but I've heard it's very big.
Mine is 6m long but Yer_Maj has only got a tiddler to play with as she said hers was 6 foot. Or was that a typical female strategy to undermine, by calling something 3x smaller than it really is?
Happy news Dannirr - recovery phase underway
Boston latest - "Contrary to widespread reporting, there have been no arrests made in connection with the Boston marathon attack," the FBI said in a statement.
Now that other lady has been properly buried, I might stop my self-imposed abstinence and watch some UK news. Have been rather bored of the last 9-10 days worth of bitterness and complaining about what is frankly, ancient history.
Hi - thanks for all your good wishes. Just had word from my Dad that she's had a good night's sleep, her BP has stabilised and is being transferred into a normal ward. That's a good sign. All your good wishes have helped, I'm sure.
As for support crew plans - have you got room for one more? I'm in negotiations on accommodation for Saturday night and if that can be sorted, I reckon I'm going to just jump onto a plane and head on over...

Ocht, I'm older than I look, I still do Imperial It's 6 meters really....
Dan - that's very good news
Maus that's also very encouraging news about your Mum - just get on that plane and come and do some screaming with us. I'll even let you have a go on my pole. Don't forget your T shirt

Maus, Danni - I started the week thinking how small the world is when stuff like Boston brings you all closer, then stuff happens to you two and you realise how big it is and how far apart we are. That's about as profound as I'm ever going to get, so I'll quit while Im ahead. Things seem to be promising for both of them anyway, and they both seem to be in good hands

That is not only profound, but spot on!
Indeed, news is promising. Further news from my Dad is that she's sounding like herself. So I expect I'll be in trouble for something fairly shortly.
With so much hardness in our world this week, I have decided I needed something a little more beautiful, so without good reason, here are some pictures of our garden today
Dannirr - My mum had one of them when I was about 7. All I really remember about it was her being really really ill and in bed for ages which isn't like my mum. Hope your son is feeling a bit better today.

We'll all be in our Paris T shirts and looking as cool as cucumbers. Honest.

Jus T - beware of applying for London thinking 'I'll never get in'. That's how my marathon career started...
Dannir - sorry to hear about your son, hope he's on the mend soon.
OK. Flights booked. I'll see you at dinner on Saturday night with my fellow rodent.
Dan: So pleased you've had some good news too.
Danni - great news. Was it quinsy?
MM - great news too.
Indeed! Just home - fab movie!!

No, but you've got Jimbob twice!
I'm happy to share with DLR. If he promises to leave the web cam at home.
Mrs OO has bookked the theatre Saturday night. Thanks for the tip off DV, I'll avoid Charing Cross
DLR - you're bringing the webcam still, right?

That's great. About her sounding like herself bit I mean. Not the getting into trouble bit.
Weedy - yes, spot on
MM - good news on your Mom. Lovely
Iain - yes, quinsy (they don't use that term here, and they did a CT scan to diagnose it - whatever happened to a good clinical examination?)
Excited - a run in the morning
With so much hardness in our world this week, I have decided I needed something a little more beautiful, so without good reason, here are some pictures of our garden today

Thoughts are with you all. ((((hugs))))
