The above is not written in stone.

The Jimbob - Everyone thinks you'll be going for sub 3h so let them dream. I'm sure you have a long term plan and you'll break it when the time is right. Any PB will be amazing but there are lots of factors out of your control, like the weather. If conditions aren't right then I bet you'll target and be happy with 3h30, injury free and fit to fight another day.

  • Ha, you volunteered PC, no backing out when the going gets tough fella', that's not how marathon runners 'do it'

    ;-)

Matty - you are right about the rubbish HTML coding on this website, so I'll try and say it again in a working format:

    PB (2h54), G (3h00), S (3h05), Br (3h12)

I just went out and did a test run, flattish course, on tarmac, without much wind or at least an out and back so everything balances out. Do a HM distance, trying to keep HR between 85-89% of MHR. The avg pace should be what you can use as a pacing guide come marathon day.

Although I have to say, my out run was a breeze - slightly downhill and with a bit of wind on my back. Felt EZPZ. Around the half way I ran up the steepest hill in the area (the 17% slope i use for bike power training), then headed for home. Slightly uphill, with wind in the face. Had to work a bit harder. But happy to say, I did the HM distance in 1:29:40 which puts me in with a chance of grabbing my Gold target.

Steve Ayling, Kaz - sensible goals. I applaud you! MacPerky, delighted you had a good run fella'. Slightly jealous about your trip to Melbourne (for the weather) but don't envy you getting over the jetlag on the way back. LloydR - hope you can avoid proper injury this close to the race.

Just one more week really hard training and we've got 3 weeks to let all our aches and pains and niggles heal up. Energy will surge back into our bodies and we'll all be a bit more frisky than unusual. Happy times to come. One week of hard training to go.

17 people in the BCRC Strava running group so far. Any more want to join? Send me a PM with your email address to be added. All welcome.

  • PC: whats that 3.12 business?

  • Okay time to nail my colours to the mast as well

Gold - 3:45 which my training plan is based on

    Silver - anything sub 4

    Bronze - sub 4:12:14

    PB - 4:12:15

    Other goals

Gold - to meet the legend that is Emmy

Silver - to see the front of PC rather than just his back like last year

Bronze - to make it to cocorans and get to the " I love you , you're the best " stage which I failed to achieve last year
  • I have made a doctors appointment for Monday 31st March......

TD : I would truly love to try out the HR thing but it scares the daylights out of me, and nowhere flattish here and at the moment the only place out of the wind is indoors..... what is the closest to Marathon day you would advise for doing this?? Obviously thinking about being recovered as much as possible.

  • knock a minute off each of those B, S and G targets and you have my numbers .... if i don't manage 12-14 miles at mara pace on sunday then i'll be revising them to slower targets

Without wanting to, um, give too much information...but, um, "more frisky than unusual'?

I have 4 things to say in response (in no particular order)

  • ATM - My pleasure

And mine is also available for downloading ,
  • TB are you celebrating this momentous occasion with some convocaunicating?

  • Felt I need to join in with the targets ! Paris will be a PB for me as it's my first, with a 1.43 PB  Half I was aiming for around 3.45 but think sub 4 would be good following recent long runs !

    Gold 3.45

    Silver 4.00

    Bronze 4.15

That's between me, TD and our heart-rate monitors!

  • My goals well;

    Gold - Beat 4:45

Silver- Beat 4:51 my time from Brighton.

Bronze - Enjoy and wave at the crowd.

Parkrun tomorrow morning, then another 20 miler planned for Sunday

  • So was either of the 2 runners in their Paris 2013 finishers t-shirt I passed in Hyde Park at lunchtime today from this group??
  • PC - Can you change my bronze to 3:28 please and put 3:29 in brackets (my PB)

    Time for some convocation hunting.

  • Whacataq - not guilty. But I was wearing mine in Greenwich Park at about 7am? image
