It may be going over old ground, but the spam problem you have seems to be people posting ads randomly, could you not just have a rule saying no one is allowed to place a new thread until they have a record of responding to say 12 normal posts. Or even held a profile for over two weeks.
This would also stop the one post wonders you see who post a ridiculous or controversial subject and vanish (Or Trolls as I am reliably told)
I'm no expert as you can see but why could it not be employed?
You can't hold posts for two weeks for newbies - that's ridiculous. You'd have no newbies! Clever checking of subject lines and usernames would do it. Note that all the streaming content spammers had usernames that match a pattern beyond that they're mostly Asian names...
I know what you said, and my point stands. Almost all newbies come here with questions, and they need to start threads to ask them. A moderation queue for anyone withe fewer than 10 approved posts would be useful, as would access to a user list so that I could bulk delete users and posts. At the moment I have to open a post, click on the user's avatar, click a link, click another link, then click "OK".

Thanks IM. I do appreciate what you and the others do. It seems RW can't be bothered maintaining this place and are letting it wither.

I didn't say hold posts for two weeks, I said don't allow them to start new threads for two weeks, which is sensible and probably easier.
