It depends on how much you have - anything that's likely to get tangled may need to be tied up.
I find a banana helps before I get going, and have gel handy in case things get rough halfway through.
Is nobody going to mention the virgin marathon?
Having your name shouted during the sprint finish almost guarantees a more satisfying result.
I always get a big cheer when i dress up in a costume.

Ah the Virgin Marathon - awkward, nervous, shaky and the final push can be slightly painful but after youve done your first one you can go out for a beer with your mates and boast about what an easy ride it was and you fancy doing two back to back next time
