When you've sobered up, you must tell me how you got such a big PB. Marathon 1 to 2, I improved by 20 minutes (following P+D), mara 3 (Dublin) doesn't count. Looking for a PB of 10 minutes or more for London to get me under 3.30. Enjoy your post race refreshments.
Well done velloo. Now I don't want to restrict you still to marathon based behaviour but what I have read is that regardless of the urge you get Following a Mara, whatever you do you should not hit the booze. Therefore I think you need to reassess this plan
Come on Velloo - you got to get yourself a Champs place at London...you'll be starting just behind the elites and will be mixing with all the creme de la creme like Lit. Plus, then you could join in the P&D spring marathon thread.
Cheers! The secret to knocking so much time off my marathon is....
Not running marathons. The only other one I've done was Dublin in 2010, since then I've joined a club and got all my other times down so my training paces for this mara were much faster.
I'm not doing London, qualified for a champs place last year on my HM time too but I'm going to leave it a few years. I want to work on my 10k time. The beach is calling, bye for now!
Hmmm, food for thought there Velloo. I will see what happens in the Spring but if not much of an improvement (if any) then maybe I will work on my other distances (which are weak in comparison to marathon times).
Enjoy the beach and we're over on the new Spring thread should you want to stay around
Miscalculated my timings for seville and finish plan a week too soon any recommendations for which week to repeat? I was thinking the penultimate one?
enjoying the 18 week upto 55 miler the lactate threshold sessions certainly feel like an event, psyching up for the solid 6 miler this week and working out how to run 14 miles before work and arrive on time!!!!!

Oh, ffs, how have I got this reputation as a massive stalker? Anyway, I wouldn't know, obviously, but I bet it went according to plan.
Nice.
Cheers for the support and I'll lurk on your spring mara thread as I don't plan to do another one for a few years. Off to get hammered!
I was just joking with you, Lit. Didn't mean to cause offence
You're usually the one with a good memory so I thought you may have had Velloo's alter ego details for the tracking malarkey
That's okay Shazmo - clearly I did know velloo's result really. And well done velloo! So pleased you got under 3:15 even with the wind.
Brilliant Velloo - well done!!!

Congrats Velloo, a huge PB can't wait to hear all about it
Sorry velloo - DT19 says if you get pissed afterwards your time doesn't count.
Well done Velloo that is an amazing time! Looking forward to the full race report.
Impressive stuff Velloo. Well done!
30 minute PB?! Velloo that is fantastic!! Hope your head isn't too sore this morning
What a shame you specified 'headwind', rather than saying 'wind'. You'd have been in pun city!
Unbelievably great marathon. Well done. There have been some great PBs on this thread this autumn, and this is surely amongst the best.
Velloo - I think that gets you a champs place in VLM??
15W - I expect velloo could have had a champs place in VLM already with a half time - I seem to remember her recent half PB is faster than mine.

And then you could knock another half hour off your PB.
Wow Velloo! Well done, also want to know your secret. Please tell me it was adding one legged squats, a plank and 2 lots of circuit classes a week...
I am starting P&D mid Dec for manchester, who is in?
Me! (VLM not Manchester). Isn't Manchester a week before VLM this year?
Who wants to start a new thread then?
Come on... I'm too shy to start it.
Done it.
I'm in for vlm but don't feel sufficiently established in the marathon circles to start a thread!

Hi
Massively late to this thread.
Really interesting reading what people have posted. Seems like the emotions i have been feeling are similar.
I am currently training for Chester using the 18w at 55-70 - chasing a GFA sub 3.05.
Late? Massively late? ONE YEAR LATE!! ... this is last year's thread.
Move on, nothing to see here... back to 2014.
