Given I only have a road bike with clip on aero bars I will mostly be using that. That said, OC used a TT and I believe RafikiD is planning to use one.
Jedward - I'm no expert on bikes and the web is full of contradictions, but I read this when deciding on bikes and it makes sense to me (even if it is written by an American ):
The critical elements to maximizing the benefits of a triathlon bike are fit and position. Installing aero handlebars on a standard road bike (as opposed to a tri bike) exerts two changes on a rider’s position: The rider’s upper torso is more stretched out with the hands and elbows farther forward, and the angle between the femur (thigh) area of the leg and the torso becomes "sharper" or more acute. There is less distance between the thigh and the torso at the top of the pedal stroke. These two changes mean the a road bike with aerobars becomes less comfortable.
Cheers for the advice Raf, must admit I'm swaying towards a tt.
I've started a new blog if anyone's interested in following. It's on Wordpress and my username is jayedwards27. But of a novice but I'll get the hang of it
At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal choice. Although, I guess the most important consideration is TT bikes LOOK much better, and we all know that's what really counts
I left my TT bike at home and opted for the road bike, when I go back again in the future I'll take the TT bike, it's a TT friendly course, if you can maintain the tuck for long periods of time.
I wouldn't take the twat hat though as your head would fry, stick to a normal helmet.
It was the wind that killed me in Fuertaventura rather than the heat or hills so every windy day, get out on that bike and try use a route where the wind is against you ALL the time because that's what it feels like!
I'm not good coming down either... I went to Tenerife earlier this year and I was grinding slowly down that volcano with 2 big handfuls of brakes, when 5 of the RadioShack squad went past, all sitting up riding no hands whilst eating lunch !!!! I am a wimp and proud of it
I merely meant you don't have to pedal to go down hill But I know what you mean Dave - I was given a masterclass in descents in Spain this year by a mate who is an ex-pro! I've been riding motorbikes for 20 odd years with wider tyores and hence much more grip - and would have thought twice about the speeds he was going on 25mm slicks!!
But you do know Henley's not excatly flat - even the swim is uphill!! You should never listen to M...eldy!!

- There you go, Lee.
Great video - happy memories
555 places gone..........
Plenty left
If you have a road bike, add some clip on tt bars and you will be fine
If you are going to buy a tt bike then try and get a bike fit if possible - the position is a bit different....
I think that's a fair representation of the day
I wanna go back
I really want to go back as well.
564 places gone in a week, filling a lot faster than previously.
You don't get this on Outlaw or the Henley course......
Thank feck for that !!!
yeh, but what goes up has gotta come down (unless its my bank overdraft!!)
Dear God. I'd probably struggle to walk up that hill let alone ride it Lovely view though
