Outlaw training and family/job works really well doesnt it ha ha.....All the council run pools are full of kids and close at 8pm meaning no swimming for me, start work at 8am so cant get in in a morning either.....
Problem now solved, joined my local swimming club so my training plan is
3 x 5am swimming sessions a week (Mon/Wed/Fri)
5am midweek run (7 miles Tues) and a long weekend run (14 miles if no marathon/ultra to run)
2 x 30 miles rides (Monday and Friday evenings) and a long ride on a weekend.
Hoping this will be enough cause reckon I could be in for a divorce otherwise.
Up at 5am, in pool for 5.30am. Got a top swimmer at my school and she has been training like this before school for years and then after school too.....
If you said I would be doing the same a few months back I would think you were mental, now I am buzzing that I can train while my mrs and kids are sleeping so I dont get any grief ha ha
I think it is quite normal for swimming clubs to train at these hours as those competing at a high level train a lot of hours each day
I appreciate a lot of top swimmer swim early before pool open to the public.....glad to see you have a pool where you can join the group..that should ensure a really good time for you......
I have got round the problem of inconvenient public swim sessions by joining a swimming club with a few masters swim a week - so I get 3 quality swims with them and I know I am pushing myself properly when I swim and I can't shirk part of the workout just because I can't be bothered.
oh bugger i remember that training thing. enjoying the odd bob at the moment.
dont forget theres a long way to go, and you neeed mojo for the training bit in the last 10 weeks. the previous 20 weeksis about getting fit enough to do the last 10 weeks of training
this time of year is just exercise / having fun. however if you need to get fir, start nowat a low level, do domething every day and let the fitness build slowly. swim a bit, bike lots and run some
My sessions are currently about coaching some technique into me as my freestyle" was learnt via YouTube and it seems I may have a few bad habits...the kids at the pool blow my mind, the top kids are training upto 60km a week
i am current doing lots of drills with a kick board etc..... I thought I was a fit lad, a couple of sessions of club swimming have made me realise I am not ha ha.
but to be honest the campsite at The outlaw is perfect.........you can't park your car so close
and its flat and its the place to meet pirates................and if you don't want to be in the middlew of the pirates you can book electric hookup and get some peace
Agree with that Meldy, I had to drive down to Weymouth from oopp north ealier this year and its great as you crest the hill on the road in when you get to see Weymouth and the sea is a great view, should make a good venue for full distance race

no masters groups in my county at all unfortunately
This does mean you will have to wait ages for me to finesh the bike though.
4hrs isnt that long mate
Maybe, but you'd be waiting longer if it was the other way around.
I've got to do it in 4 hours! I have some training to do.
It gets even funnier, I think next year's Grim is only about 4 days after.
La la la la I'm not listening. Err fancy a relay? If you want to do the 70 as a solo I'm hiding behind the sofa.
As if hiding ever did any good.
3 swims a week...... ?

Found this thread on page 6 !!!
Trying to get a bit of interest in Bala as a pre summer Ironman warm up, the more the merrier.
http://www.runnersworld.co.uk/forum/triathlon/pirate-outing-to-bala-2014/260336-5.html
With 24 + IM races in the UK next year its going to be quite difficult to keep them all on the front page
At this rate these will be more IM races than marathons
More Ironman races than there are weekends
I do fancy a weekend supporting in Weymouth tho it has to be said
Agree with that Meldy, I had to drive down to Weymouth from oopp north ealier this year and its great as you crest the hill on the road in when you get to see Weymouth and the sea is a great view, should make a good venue for full distance race
Q there is talk on the fat man thread of a few of us popping down to get drunk and shout at gas tank if your interested.
Same weekend as Wales so prob not matey
20 weeks to go folks....now for the serious part of the training.
serious??
