Wow that rise is rocking! About 1000ft in 20ish k's - hmmm...must not look further at the website...must walk away from the computer...(closes eyes, hands over ears) lalalalalalala
Well after the first one I imagine you could convince yourself that the second one wasn't so bad @ MedicGirl I had that thought about the loosing some of my padding with that I am off to find some hills while the sun is still shining!

Its much easier that way ...
Yeah I thought that, even in a Vauxhall Corsa hire car !
Hills are your friend.
Or something.
Isn't half of the course downhill?
That 50km climb at the begining should wake your legs up after the swim, but after 70km you could almost free wheel the course.
Cougie will probably do it on his fixie.
That climb goes on for about a week..... with no wind to cool you down
The course is worth doing just for cycling through Tourettes itself
Feck!
Im glad I won't be there

Any idea how long it takes to sell out?
My OH just said she'd like to go to Nice ... but that elevation would kill me! I'd need to drive to the Lake District to train!
So I said to husband...how do you feel about going to Nice in June? To which he replied "Aw yeah" - I don't think he realises what he is saying yes to
Just tell him when your putting the bike in the car on race week
isn't the elevation 1000m, not feet?
can't read it v well on my phone...
Yes - you cycle 1 km upwards - vertically!!
My bad it is in metres in my head I was thinking metres apparently fingers were not! Still it is a pretty fierce climb

if it could be flattened into feet, that would be great, thanks
1000m in 20k =5%.....
Constant steady grind.......
Easy. Just make sure you have a 28 on the back
I can lend you a rear wheel with a 30 on it as I wont need it
I think I'd be needing a 28 on the front too.
I know bugger all about bikes except I really hope I can upgrade my trek 1000 to get some easier gears. (
And seriously that course is incentive to lose weight! Not taking an extra spare gram up that hill!
it looks like there's more than one hill ...I would rather call it a cliff face!

Exactly!!
Provided it's not into a headwind that'll be lovely. Plenty of opportunity to sit back and take in the view.
It's the down hills that worry me more than anything. Garr said there were some pretty scary moments on the descents.
He loved it though and really wants to do it again.
I'm dead excited about this! *bounce*
Easier than going up over the Aubisque in 40C or the Marie Blanque which keeps kicking up thehigher you get?
