Went out on the bike this morning with my bessie mate Horse, we rode to Southport and back total 78 miles with 1460 ft of elevation.Good avg speed on the way there 17.4 mph,but it dropped right down to 13.1mph on the way back due to a strong headwind. 5hrs 49minsin the saddle and felt really strong all day and that was after a 12.5 mile run yesterday. so things seem to be on track.
Doing the Great Manchester swim in the morning ( 1 mile )
So... Tips for OW swim events, 1) Try to wake up earlier than 20mins before you're supposed to leave the house. 2) Do get in the water to acclimatise prior to the event. Just running in because you're late is apparently NOT best practice. 3) Dont dawdle out of the water and up the ramp. Apparently they take the time from when you handover your number band. 4) Ensure you enjoy it!!!!!!
1mile swim done. MrD - 35:22. MrsD - 37:20. Dawdling in and out will show on your time
Well done Diggers and Razor! Maybe some better prep with the alarm clock next time Mrs D
i have have ran twice in the last 3 days, trying to get back into it all and running every other day. First run of 4 miles had an average of 11:00 minute miles, 2nd was 9:59 so an improvement. Will be out again this evening as it's sunny again! Im starting to enjoy running again!
12.2 mile run yesterday. Average pace was 10:54 and it was hot work. Suspect I wasn't very well hydrated before I went out as I felt a bit ropey 30 minutes after getting back.
DB, great run mate but in this weather anything longer than an hour I would take a bottle with you. I did a similar distance to you last week, I took 2 x 750 bottles with me 1 with water the other with High 5 and I'm glad that I did. I use the Karrimor bottle belt from Sports Direct it does the job, I changed the bottles from 500 ml to 750ml.
Well I had a decent week last week,
Swim......... 1 mile Bike.......... 130 miles Run............21 miles
I will go out later for a run.
We had a nice day yesterday,Swam in the morning at the Quays then went to the Village summer fare then back home for a BBQ with my daughter ,Horse and the grandkids,Had a few beers and chilled out
I took a 750 bottle of High5 Zero on the first 8 mile loop, then stopped at the house to refill it with water for the last 4 miles. Needed double at least in the first 8 miles, but had to ration it. Would have been better with my Camelbak which I'll need to use for Helvellyn to carry the safety essentials on the run anyway
Nice work DB, running is humid work at the moment. MrD and I always did loops on long runs. For toilet stops and fluid replenishment! It works doesn't it
So, annoyed with myself because I didn't bike yesterday evening. I did Ride Harder 3 this evening. Well, I feel truly punished. My legs don't feel my own. I'm off to bed

I am so with you on Number 2. Ferked my event on Saturday because I decided not to acclimatise first so couldn't get a breathing pattern. Also, I would have known there was a steep ramp into the quay (rather than the nice gentle slope of Lake 32) which would have meant I wouldn't have been neck deep in water within 0.00002 seconds

Hoping to be up Friday night Razor. Swimming on Saturday. Gonna try not to be by a family this year and therefore not upset anyone
Sorry Brizzle, keep forgetting you were there last year!! Think because I didn't get to speak to you
Grr... Posts going mad!
Mrs D.. Look out for my black van with the pirate signs on
Nice!!!!
Mrs D.. in 2012 we had all that area for the pirates, no outsiders, someone had put a pirate sign on the gatepost.
This needs to happen again Razor
Pete - I'm sure it will all settle down again soon. The rain will return!
So, Ride Harder1 followed by 40min run. Chuffed as managing a 10:30 min mile walk run on average now. It is gradually getting quicker
Go Mrs D! The run will continue to come down quickly. You'll be running 6 minute miles soon
You know Rocco, I've always loved your sense of humour
He's right Mrs D, You'll be giving Mo Farrah a run for his money soon,
