nice to hear you have been out walking with your husband buttercup! There are some nice walking areas round your way I think. I love walking in the Peak District though image

I think I got a new Pb at monster middle today image It was a great fun race in near perfect conditions although there were a few bumpy fenland roads.

yay, well done Ali. Hope that has given you some confidence for the full - can't remember when it is - September?

    Well done AliBear.

I did a little walk today with Mr Steady, this time it was flat as by a river apart from getting back to the car which involved a short sharp hill to climb. The legs still protested before I got to the end but another step in the right direction. The routes are taken from a book of 50 walks in Surrey, so just another 48 to try out.

good news Ali...where is the race report?image

Good to hear folk getting out there and doing stuff.

I took the bicycle out again today.  I couldn't find my garmin so I think it was a slower time than last week but that doesn't matter.  Its good to get out.

Went out for a ride yesterday and the lack of miles recently was evident. Managed to do about two thirds of the distance I wanted. Time to get back into regular short blasts after work to get back into the habit!

Oh wow I'm am wiped out, I'm taking it as a sign that i really gave my all on Sunday but ophewI am cream crackered with no sign of energy returning yet! I did manage a 1 1.15 turbo last night but well below the power it wanted and then a 30 miles ride this mornig that should have been 40. Off for a swim in the sea this evening so hoping for milpond conditions with a kind tide, neither of which are likely but a girl can dream.

I'm also not eating all the things like I usually do post race, I think my poor stomach is still on strike. However with Barcelona on Oct 4th I need to get on with my training so can't slack off.

Results day tomorrow so two very nervous teenagers in my house this week, I really hope they get the grades they want and get onto the courses they've chosen for next year.

It's the National relays at Nottingham this weekend, is anyone going? I'll be there. image

Well its fecking hot here in Egypt (42c) at midday only done a bit of swimming but might give the gym a go in the morning. Thought about running but its still 34c at 6 in the evening and about the same at 7 in the morning so looks like I will be hitting the treadmill.;-)

Pah it's been hotter than that here today man. Waste of time travelling all the way...

  • Options
    Yeah I'll bet it is.image

Got on the bicycle again at lunch time.  My usual route along an abandoned railway line was disrupted by a pensioners walking group so I cut back on the road and braved the crazy NE drivers.  Annoyingly the wind was against me all the way back.

  • Options

bike again today.  No old folk this time but a strong headwind and still a bit knackered from yesterday's road sprint so a slow time for me.  The sight of the sky turning black as a storm approached helped with motivation in the last section.

    Hi Alll

    I NEED HELP!!!

My my mojo has long left me and I'm buggered if I can find it?!

Some will know me (a little) Razor ,Mathschick, Steady and Alibear. Not sure who else still on.

i was a trying Triathlete 3 years ago, then my appendixes burst (ouch!) found it hard to get back into training and felt sorry for myself. Also it's been a good excuse not to train. I also started up my own business which has kept me busy/tired.

Ive still got most of my gear (sold TT bike cause a waste just sat in my garage)  road bike wet suit number belt lolimage so all I'm lacking is mojo/effort.

I thought by coming back on here listening to all the great race reports training stories would help kick start my way back into the sport/hobby.

im now 17 stone though so need to start from scratch, I can still run 2/3 miles and bike 12 miles. Which I've done last week, so come on guys get this over weight ageing Triathlete wanna be imageimage

Welcome back Silver Trucker, my mojo is lurking but health has taken a bashing, so in a similar situation as just restarting with 30 minute sessions and plenty of rest days. Consistent training even if for short sessions will be a good start.

    Thanks Steady image

just done 3 miles in 33 minutes!! Felt like a marathon also used to do that in 24 minutes image so it's a bit of a long road back.

yes will try and do three runs a week that's my mini target, not gonna commit to mileage just three runs image

Helloooo Silver Trucker!!! Nice to have you back! They say if you regularly train for 2 weeks it rejuvenates your Mojo image

I did a cheeky HIM today. Bit damp but done image

I am back from hols, didn't really do as much running as I normally do on holiday but never mind! At least I didn't put any weight on

  • Options

Well I'm over 16 stone currently so it's doable. Managed most of the Outlaw at that weight. Start small and keep on going

Hello ST image long time, no type.  Perhaps look for an end of year sprint to aim for? Or an early one next year?

I'm off to have a 2nd attempt at the long distance at Ironman Barcelona on October 4th. I'm hoping for 2nd time lucky.

Nottingham was great fun, we qualified for the afternoon team time trial triathlon where the whole team started together, you can draft off your team mates on the bike and the time is taken from the last finisher. Since that would blatently be me, the other lovely ladies pretty much walked the run and we were last finishers over all, ran over the line with our club flag to lots of applause. In our defence our average age was well over 40 and I think for tall the other teams it was about 20!

Results day, eldest has done absolutley 100% as well as he could so year 2 for him. Youngest got something of a big shock, he's still on his course but the 3year option, it did hit him hard but I think he's OK about it now. I think the school is in for a shock in the league tables this year though as none of his mates did as well as predicted either.

Hail ST, there was hail.... !!!!! A lot of dampness around!

it was the Cotswold Classic. Cut a long story short my training for this was minimal due to certain circumances. Any other bike course I probably wouldn't have bothered but it is fairly flat.

I had 3 things in my head, to finish, if I finish to not be last, if I'm not last to get in under 7hrs.

Swim - Swim was good, 40mins. Chuffed with that!

Bike - really nice course with one hill. On the hill both times my chain came off so ended up walking it. Bike almost went in the hedge second time. Just as I was 10 mins from the finish the hail came. It continued to drizzle away for the rest of the race. But the mad image of Barlos, LumptyJ and JPGoodboy running down the middle of the road, in the hail shouting and ringng bells at me kept me smiling!!!! This is a main road have in mind, I was terrified they would get run over! 3hrs 18mins.

Now I have not run more than 6 miles this year, was not looking forward to the run. It was an unpleasant experience with a lot of mud, slipping and pain. But eventually the last lap appeared and I struggled home. Escorted by what I can only describe a Pirate Morris Dancers. Amazing to finish.  2hrs 47mins

Struggled in at 6:53 image JOB DONE!!!!

    Razor - you home now?

Ali-  you'll be maze balls image

  • Options

Wow MrsD you just smashed my half Pb and did it with minimal training. Hmm perhaps I should send you to Barcelona in my place image Well done.

  • Options

Well done Mrs D! You smashed it! What's your next plan?

Ali - How is your bike speed coming?

  • Options

HI Rocco, bike speed is coming on I think.

I avereaged 16.3 mph for the 51 mile monster middle bike which was flat but with some really poor road surfaces and headwind.  All my rides now come in with an average of over 14mph and I'm holding my speed well in the latter parts of long rides which are now up to 5 hours 70 ish miles with an avereage of 14.6 mph.

Hopefully that sounds like I have a hope?

    Mrs D

Still in Egypt suffering the 42c heat, I think my hands like this temperature image

ST.... thinking of doing the last of the summer tri. Hope your ok mate, I think Chilli hangs about on the marathon runners thread, glad to have back someone else to take the piss out of image
  • Options

MrsD - bloody brilliant times! Well done

didn't realise chilli was around on the marathon threads, I'll have to hunt her down.

Well, we came back Saturday night, yesterday didn't do much and today has been jobs day really and I have done loads of cleaning, still haven't got a completely sorted room but have removed all the dust from the bedroom at least, and cleared all the crap out, which involved throwing away old trainers! I am rubbish at throwing stuff away!

tomorrow will see me return to running - I am doing Nottingham marathon in 5 weeks and need to get back to it or it will be painful! It is going to be slow anyway...
