  • Big G - Yes, I enjoy the easy paced runs, as no pressure, just go out and enjoy the run. I find them easy on the legs, and find even with the LT/Vo2 max work that my legs feel fresh/good.
  • AWC - UTMB looks ace, but those hills would kill me off!! Sounds like a few of you will be in Brighton next year. I did enjoy it (other than the industrial estate) when I did it back in 2016. Easy 5 mile recovery today.
  • MF - Glad to see you back running!! Shades - Sounds like truly horrific weather for a race! Big G - Gutted for you to be missing races, but there will be plenty of others you can do when fully fit! Recovery 5 miles today, nice and easy pace, keep…
  • AWC - Nice 11 miler and hot tub recovery!! FBT - Seems like you are recovering well after Brighton. Early start today to fit in a 14 miler at 9 min/miles average. Started out with a 10:31 min/mile and slowly got faster with a 8:17 to finish, n…
  • Iain - Good to hear from you. Good luck at London! Early start today to fit in a 14 miler at 9 min/miles average. Started out with a 10:31 min/mile and slowly got faster with a 8:17 to finish, natural progression run without trying!
  • Ian - Not sure yet. I have a 10k booked for later in the year, but may target another HM. Looking at Bruges, as can combine with a weekend away!
  • Millsy - Nice HM run and congrats on 10m PB, sounds promising for London. 10 miles with 40 minutes at LT pace today, that came out to 6:28 min/miles (18 seconds a mile faster than in build up to Bath HM!). Tough session, but done now, wore my Vap…
  • Big G - Sounds like you are getting somewhere, hope it clears up soon and you don't miss many races. Shades - Hopefully I can push that mileage up a bit to 60ish for a marathon attempt next year. 10 miles with 40 minutes at LT pace today, that cam…
  • Jools - Sounds like a tough day, recover well. Hamo - Great 10k. You'll smash London! TR - Good performance all things considered. FBT - Likewise, hope the PF is OK. Nice Parkruns - Joe / Spoons / Macca. 15 miles for me on Saturday, then Sunday…
  • Shades - That's a brilliant result. Ian - I looked at Newport for next year, as I had heard it's a flat course. Louey - Great to hear from you. Brillant run in Brighton. Khani - Well done! 15 miles for me on Saturday, then Sunday was the usual 9…
  • SQ - Going to have a crack at Parkrun in a few weeks time as a tune up I think. Good news you have the device now, should be good for you to monitor BSL. Macca - That's a great report. Like the others have said I know I couldn't race a marathon tha…
  • Shades - Good luck. Ian - Newport will be a good long run for DD, just without the hills. Big G - Hope you get the injury sorted. Honk - I'm not a triathlete, but started cycling when injured last year. I've found it complements my running, so ha…
  • Big G - Stop mentioning Two Oceans....had me looking then!! 9m with 6*1k today....1k reps came out at 3:46/3:42/3:42/3:44/3:56/3:41, other than the 5th rep, I'm happy with those as haven't done any 5k paced stuff since Feb 2018!!
  • Spoons - Sounds like good progress. AWC - Good idea to rest up. TR / Jools / FBT - Good luck at Brighton. 9m with 6*1k today....1k reps came out at 3:46/3:42/3:42/3:44/3:56/3:41, other than the 5th rep, I'm happy with those as haven't done any 5k…
  • SQ - Nice reps and MLR! TR - Sorry to hear about your Dad. NE - Wow....21 miles midweek in the dark....impressive stuff and fast finish! Chicksta - Nice controlled HM. Macca - I think I might be getting close to where I was pre injury. 8 miles …
  • Khani - I think you'll have a bit more time to decide on Manchester. Cal - In which case, I think you defo have sub 4 in you at some point. Recover well. Shades - I know if I want the most benefit from HADD I need to stick with it for a long time,…
  • Cal - Sorry your race didn't go to plan, but you'll have other chances to go sub 4. Plus your second fastest time is still a good result. What is your HM PB? Khani - As far as I know, there isn't a Birmingham marathon next year. Well defo not one t…
  • HPR - Gutted for you. Take it easy with the comeback. TR - Good news, hopefully sets you up nicely come race day. Hamo - Nice miles still! AWC - I struggled hitting pace at the end of those runs last year, but running the first bits slower is def…
  • Big G - Thanks, defo going to do a spring marathon next year. I think it's either Manchester or Rotterdam, although Newport is really flat too!! Shades - Yes, really enjoying it at the moment. I've slowed down my easy runs in order to hit the faste…
  • Macca - Awesome result....congrats!! AWC - Brilliant running, sets you up nicely for the 100! Jools - I like to have a massage about 2 weeks out, as any soreness is then gone. But if closer to race day, they will go lighter. George - Gutted for y…
  • Big G - Nice result in Rotterdam. Would you recommend it or better European races? Ian - Well done at Manchester, pity you didn't get the result you wanted, maybe the 12 hour days drained you a bit? Either way, really well paced. Shades - Well don…
  • Shades - Yes, I'm not party animal these days and normally in bed around 9:30! If I average around 7 hours per day for the week, that is usually enough for me, as get extra sleep on my rest days and weekends!
  • NE - Interesting mileage, I think your right the fitness was always there, just needed some mileage week on week to show itself. Joe - Good to hear all is good. HPR / George / Macca - Good luck in Manchester. AWC - Good luck with the 50 (this wee…
  • Hamo - Nice intervals, and apple/grape juice combo! Macca - Nice target and dress rehersal! All the best for Sunday! Reg - AWC - Get well soon. Out the door at 4:20 in -2c this morning for a 13 miler, felt good.
  • Ian - Not great taper with long shifts at work. Will you get an easier day tomorrow? Khani - Sounds like lovely weather....-2c here this morning!! Out the door at 4:20 for a 13 miler this morning, cold but enjoyable run.
  • Good luck to Cal, Ian, Shades and Big G at the weekend!
  • Joe - The important thing is your health, so rest up and recover. You are getting to the point now, where any training will only have minimal fitness gains. Take it easy and recover well. TR - Glad your Dad is OK. George - 22 minutes not miles, bu…
  • Big G - 27 second PB at the paces he runs is very impressive!! Also I'm guessing he probably didn't taper for the 5k, so went in with heavy legs! 7 miles with strides today.
  • Shades - Also no races pencilled in just yet. I've got my eye on a local 10k, but it's same day as the Birmingham Velo cycle, so loads of closed roads, so tempted to do parkrun on the Saturday instead with a long cool down, that will be 3 weeks out …
  • SQ - Solid reps there. Jools - My quads hurt just looking at that climb! Nice rehydrating though! Some great monthly totals on here, looking good for marathon season I think! 10 miles with 22 mins (6:23 min/mile) and 18 mins (6:34 min/mile) tod…
