  • Nice one DT! Was pretty miserable out there in the constant rain but pretty reasonable conditions for quick times. Enjoy its been well earned!
  • Muddy great work on the marathon PB. Good to see you running well and seemingly recovering well too. DT - How are you feeling for the York marathon? Is sub 3 the plan? I'm doing the 10 mile race so I'll keep an eye out for you. I guess the best way…
  • DT nice mileage there and no doubt the 20 will have you good even if it was hard going. Muddy am I right in thinking you are doing the York 10k? I'm entered so will no doubt see you there if so.

  • DT - York could finally be my chance to meet you as I'm planning on doing the 10 miler that forms part of the same event. Well depending on how things go over the next couple of months anyway. My running comeback has been ticking along nicely and a…

  • Good luck to the London runners. I will be keeping an eye out for results. Fingers crossed its not too hot for you. Skinny sorry to hear about your foot. Must be massively frustrating for you. I've had foot issues of my own and have barely run si…

  • DT his pace was all over the shop as well. Really think he was struggling to get dialled into consistent splits. I'm sure it said he'd run 2.4x so he should have been able to do it comfortably.
  • Lou, think we have different ideas of fun! Well done 43 miles is a hell of a distance. DT, good luck with the germ avoidance. I failed and was full of cold yesterday. So after much debate I decided to  try and run the York marathon yesterday. I wa…
  • Dan good luck and I hope your Achilles lasts the distance. I'm in a similar situation with a sore foot that I'm not confident will last the full 26. Think I'll have a go and hope for the best though. Must be a vale of York curse!
  • Lou - Hope you had a good one today. Makes me feel a bit queasy just thinking about attempting that kind of distance. DT - Pretty good result all things considered. With a mid week 20 in the legs I'm actually surprised it didn't hold you back more.…
  • Pete - looking good there. DT - Nice feeling when the training is done and the only challenge left is getting to the start line in one piece. On that note I've had what feels like a fairly major flare up of plantar fasciitis. It's severe enough th…
  • DT good report and you even managed 2 toilet anecdotes instead of the usual 1! Sounds like it wasn't the easiest of courses so perhaps even more to come and also looking good for that sub 3 attempt. I managed a 17.45 parkrun yesterday which is a lo…
  • DT I'm wondering what you have done that's made those 2 people in the crowd laugh so much??
  • DT - Great work and well deserved with the way you've been going recently. Does this mean you are going to give sub 3 a crack?
  • Thanks for the input everyone! That's reassured me that its not completely stupid to go for sub 3. I think I'll have a go and see what happens. If I blow up then so be it.
  • Muddy I did pretty much exactly that last month. I did a 13.1 marathon effort in training in just over 1.26. That was in the middle of fairly heavy training as well. Apart from the legs feeling a bit tired at the end (unsurprising since they were…
  • DT - Looking good, you seem to be in really good shape right now! Thanks for the input Muddy/DT hopefully I’ll feel more lively after a good taper. The tough thing now is going to be working out what pace is sensible to go out at in the mara…
  • So just over 1.25 for me in my half today which was something of a surprise (in a bad way). Figure something isn't quite right at the moment. Not really sure where that leaves me in regards to the marathon in 4 weeks. Wouldn't want to run it feeling…
  • Skinny for the next time you update I should mention I've been 31 for ages now. Unfortunately age is then only thing I ever need updating on the table! I wonder if I'm starting to get any wava benefits yet.....
  • DT - Well done, I think that's a pretty impressive effort even if you were hoping for a bit more. As you say, can't really argue with a PB. Muddy - Seems like you are in solid shape then. If you can bag some consistent sessions over the next 6 week…
  • DT – Yep that’s what I meant. I think as it’s my first one I’m not anticipating converting particularly well. Muddy – It will be full tilt more or less. Though as I’m likely to be well short of PB form I’ll try and avoid going to the well.  G…
  • Skinny – fingers crossed the recovery starts here. Muddy – Good luck on Sunday. Is it a decent course? I’m doing a half a week on Sunday with the main purpose of working out what my marathon target should be.  Anyone got any ideas what k…
  • DT with your shiny new 5k PB, impressive recent long run and increased mileage do you think sub 3 might be a goer?

  • Muddy - Good luck for the 5k. Do you think you are in decent shape?  Thanks that's good to know. How did you decide what pace to set out at, at Hull? Seems like a hard thing to judge first time out. Tommy - Not until the 8th October so a good coup…

  • Skinny - seems a bit odd, hope you get an answer sooner rather than later. Muddy - Good week there. Nothing more annoying than a lace coming undone mid race though! Mace - sensible approach. Lack of mojo tends to be the body's way of asking for a …

  • Muddy I think it's 4% advantage compared to Nikes previous fastest marathon racer (the zoom?). Not sure what advantage it would give over shorter compared to shorter distance racing flats. Have to say I have mixed feelings if they really work. Wou…

  • Mace - good to see the progress continuing, definitely getting there! DT - You seem to be going well, Droitwich excluded. Be interested to hear your opinion of the vaporfly. I'm expecting something special for 200 quid! 21 for me this morning at 7…

  • Tommy - Albert is really good if you are after a fast time. Very flat and all on tarmac paths. Not really any tight turns or anything. It's 2 laps so there is a bit of traffic 2nd time round but you can easily cut onto the grass to pass people witho…

  • DT - Good work on the weight, sounding lean. Not sure I have enough hair for that to be a viable strategy! Lit had to google that but looks very nice. I can imagine there's some very pleasant running to be done. Do you take gels in an actual marath…

  • Albert & Riverside are my go to PB courses at 56 and 124 respectively. Like Skinny pretty surprised that there could be 123 flatter courses than Riverside. Tommy nice double up racing there. Bit of an odd question but does anyone have any solu…

  • Stevie guess it just depends on what your body is used to. I know a few people who race all the time because that's what they enjoy and they seem to be able to recover fine and not get injured.
