Heya! Some injury advice? Pace?
After years of saying that I'll start running, I finally did. I'm doing C25K and I'm just about to do Week 4 Run 1.
I noticed that I get shin splints (more noticeable when on the treadmill than when outside), and hip pain and knee pain.
I've had knee pain for years and a few dislocations tucked under my belt so that's not new, but the rest is!
Is this pain likely to exacerbate or should I just run through it like I've been doing?
As for pace, my stride is quite short due to my height And a 'proper run' for me is around 9.0km/h. My C25K program is pretty adamant that I should only be doing a slow jog, but I go somewhere in the middle between running and jogging and my pace is usually a measly 8.3km/h. I don't see how I'm going to get to 5K in 30min!
Any tips?
