I do the hatha yoga "salute to the sun" every day - stretches all major muscle groups, and add the "crocodile" spinal twist. Takes less than 5 mins. Also use the gym ball for pelvic rotations - core strength and flexibility (also takes inches off your waistline).
I can't believe no one told Barlos that the reason he can't bend over and put his hands flat on the floor is to do with his belly obstructing his range of movement.
Garr - I have problems with tight muscles in my back and shoulders - especially if I swim, so I tend not to swim too much
and I have a foam roller and massage and I stretch too. boring.
Ok, but I get really tight muscles in my ar5e when I run or cycle. Should I just give up all hope of ever doing a serious amount of training for a tri?
Nah, I'll just keep it going and see if I get injured.
I do like a nice luxurious stretch in bed. But the langorous image is often spoiled by my 'AAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH FCKIT*!!!!' when my calves invariably cramp.
*of course this is entirely for comic effect as I would never say such a thing.
A bike fit ponce recently said my ham string flexibility was carp so my bike position is not allowing me to get much power out. I thought it was because i have sparrows legs and am a crap cyclist.
Anyway he gave me some bike specific stretches to do , will see what happens. As Cougie pointed out cycling make yer muscles shorten. So after psycholing i stretch now, never used to at all, only a bit after running.
Everyone knows swimblings for poofs , but if you have to, a quick windmill of the arms will do the trick

My back still gets tight - too much time at the computer I think, and too much housework...

i'd rather not picture that Barlos.
If you really want to impress the ladies Carl, now is the time to say the muscle you were stretching was your tongue!!
You'll get repetitive stress injury Barly!
