Haven't tried skins but have run in linebreak and 2xu tights. The linebreak tights were good but prefer the 2xu tights. They seem a bit more substantial and as a result give better compression.
I've found (as have users on another forum) that the 2XU are a bit too fragile, dodgy stitching in the seams. Very comfy though. I'm using Under Armour ones but have a pair of Jet Skins on order for recovery after LSRs.
I have a pair of both skins and linebreak. Personally, I prefer the skins - I just find them more comfortable, but I couldn't tell you if they're any more effective.
I know santa wont bring me them. Got a bonus from works so spent it quick on these before I used it for shopping. Will report what I think sometime soon.
Having tried skins, linebreak and 2XU I'd have to say I preferred the 2XU tights since they gave slightly better compression compared to the skins. Linebreak are cheaper but I found the sizing very large (ended up in a small without much compression).
With the tops I've gone with skins over 2XU as they are longer in the body and don't ride up so will be okay to use as a cycling baselayer.
Is there any need for compression tops though ? I can kinda see it for the legs where all the muscles are - but for cycling - the upper body isnt doing that much work is it ?
Have worn my skins a few time (she long ones) and have found them to be great. Took one min of my 10k time, may be coincidence, but they were very comfortable, with good wicking. I don't think I would bother with a top though.
Like I said I've been using the top as a baselayer and that's been quite effective. I've also found it useful for recovery after long swim sessions wheree the upper body is getting more of a workout. But I also get them at cost so that might tell you why I've got one!!
I've only got skins, but I've been amazed with how fresh my legs felt on my last very very long run when I was wearing them, and on the following day too. Today, as it was so much colder I opted for warmer, but non-compression bottoms, and my legs felt pretty tired. Can't really swear it was the skins, but I think I'm going to make sure I've got two pairs!
I have now got and tried my skins and feel exactly like you tigger, my legs feel good even after training every day this week, so a second pair is definately on the cards.
I have had a pair of skins for a year and they are very comfortable and they do seem to help recovery. I was bought a pair of McDavidcompression tights for Xmas, which cost £30 as opposed to £60.They are not as comfortable as the skins so I train in them and wear the skins for recovery purposes.
