I have a feeling that a lot of people who have had their snouts in the trough for a good few years are suddenly going to get their cushy life whipped away from underneath them. I also suspect a few peole will be replacing them in the aforementioned trough quite soon.
Boris is Boris, in public unrehearsed, bollock dropping, gaffe making apparent buffoon. I dont think for a second he is as daft as some people make out but time will tell. A change is as good as a rest...... he cant be any worse than what we have suffered under t'other one for ther last 4 years. ( note I said 4 years, his first 4 were quite effective)
Erm Tony Blair was a lawyer and a public schoolboy.
If Blair had had his way Livingstobne would never have been mayor. In fact i believe Ken was actually not in the Labour party when he was originally voted in.
Tory Boy Dave had 13 Old Etonians in his front bench team at one stage. Cream rising to the top or the old boy system promoting its own?
yes, there are a lot of lawyers in politics, but i wouldn say it was weighted towards lawyers, people do chose to become lawyers (christ knows why!)
i take your point about the old etonians, but the labour front bench was at one stage dominated by MP's from the north east of england, its only natural for people to bring in their own lot
I can't believe that people are taken in by this fool. I don't get the "it's an act" thing. Look at his comments about Liverpool. I can see Cameron having to apologise on many occasions for this twit over the coming years. It's the best news Gordon Brown will ever receive during his stint as PM.
I thick Boris is hilarious though. But I think Harry Hill is hilarious - wouldn't want him running my capital city though.
Agree with Plum about noses in the trough - a different set will soon be in there. Wish someone would come along and get rid of it but I can't see that happening.
Boris is a very clever bloke, much more so than the shambling chaotic exterior that he presents. But from what I've seen of him and from what I've read of his writings, he's not a details man. That may not matter, if he can supply the clear vision and direction from above while, crucially, appointing the right people to handle the nitty gritty and get things done. Time will tell.
Also, I think Ken has fallen victim most of all to the national drift against Labour. Politics is a cyclical business and Gordon Brown is in a similar situation to John Major. Boris, as Ken did before him, has turned up at the right time to ride the trend.

Tory Boy Dave 2nd from left.
Boris - well, you can guess which one he is.
Thank God the class system no longer exists in this fine nation of ours!
So does that mean if you where born in the wrong class JB you shouldn't be allowed to take part?
I'm not arguing, GD! (Polishes chip on shoulder)
Yrs
The Class Warrior
I just have a bit of a problem with a system that is institutionally weighted in favour of a) Public schoolboys and b) Lawyers
Which is worse?
There's only one way to find out......

Funny how he's always described as a jogger by the press.
He's been pictured running in a rather piratey buff...
That's it then SVT
Tosser
Oi, I'll have you know I've been known to compete in pirate colours....
Ah, I see your point.
