just wondered how everyone else got on at Glasgow today?I was 6 mins slower than last year and it was definetely the wettest race i have ever taken part in.i still enjoyed it though and my slower time was mainly due to lack of training and not the rain.Special mention must go to the race volunteers on such a miserable day- well done and thanks

I may be moving to dunfermline , you are not a good advert
Also, a personal best by 4 minutes...what more can you ask for?
I agree a special thanks must go to the race volunteers and pipers.
Congratulations (and nice pic Tommy). Wonder how Drew et al got on?

I know it was the way the water was washing across the path at the medical tents. It was hell. I must have started just about next to you, but I did not see you. I am sorry about your not getting under 1:20 but I am sure soon. So what is your advice for my training now.
How do I build up so I can keep this sort of pace up for 42.2km (26.2 miles)? If I can do it I will be in for a Good for your age place at London!!!! Which would be over an hour off this years time.
By the way you should get your sister to log on as she would be able to provide technical help and advice for all of us who cross train using bikes.

Personally, apart from hanging around at the start, I loved it! All that splashing through puddles and getting soaked to the skin.
It was a good test of my new shoes (which only gave me the smallest of blisters) and my stretchy running shorts which worked wonderfully to prevent the thigh chaffing I suffered in Inverness.
Only managed to knock a minute off my PB which was a little disappointing (I'm just too polite and rule abiding to push my way to the front at the start). I couldn't read my watch because of the rain and I found the mile markers hard to spot. It was only at the halfway mark that I realised how far off my pace I'd slipped. I ran the second half 5 minutes faster than the first!
As prepartion for Dublin I'm happy with my 1:41 time and the fact that I finished it still feeling strong.
