from doing long miles in cycling shorts I have now changed to tri shorts and have hardened up..........recovering a lot quicker now and have stuck with the hard mans saddle as no spare cash for a girlie one.........
i actually find tri shorts better than cycling shorts, but that could just be me..
that was a well timed boing for me all right. I've been fretting over what I'm going to wear for a 1/2IM in June and wondering how I can manage getting into proper cycling shorts after the swim as I've been sh!t scared of doing long cycles with anything less than fully padded shorts!
Having read this thread this morning, I had a word with myself, (the word was TTFU) and went out for a four hour cycle/half hour run brick in a pair of tri shorts. I can report that the ladygarden is in no better or worse state than it would be had I done it in padded cycle shorts. What a revelation!
I've always fought against TTFU in that department, but apparently, it's already quite T I can't help feeling in some ways that's a bad thing...<muses>
One thing I found that helps relieve the tenderness (if it has not been possible to prevent the massacre) is to put my underwear in a zip-lock bag and chuck 'em in the freezer before I go out for my ride. On returning home and having a bath, I am able to put on a nicely chilled pair of knickers.
Love this thread. Came in for a quick look, but couldn't resist reading the lot. I have to say I've tried padded cycling shorts and found them utterly hellish. My road bike saddle is a Bontrager Inform R saddle, and I really like it. The bike shop put that on in place of a men's saddle (i've got the men's bike) and though I thought I might need to change it, it has been fine so far. Only hurt when I managed to fall off last week, and totally banged my lady garden on the seat on the way down ow ow ow ow ow. Funnily enough though, can feel the bruising more when sitting on a hard chair than on the saddle again! Anyway, enough about fannies and the like, I must get to bed!
We could have a new 'friendly' competition to see whaich Lady Pirate could thaw out a pair of knickers the quickest........barley could judge it with his 'special thermometer'....
Since I have finally cracked and got my bike out of my friend's garage after six years, I guess I'd better read this from the beginning again
Frozen knickers.........
You lot were not paying attention, were you? . You put the knickers in a freezer bag first. That way the knickers themselves become chilled but not frozen stiff.

Frozen knicks?
Cougs will have Calvin Kleins in the freezer as we speak now! Imagine Mrs Cougs face when she's looking for peas!
I bet a million pounds that RW will NOT use that one as the "what's hot on the forums" for next month (though they should!)
Mostly because the knickers are now COLD.....
Fantastic thread
Like others I've had to read from start to finish but some definitely useful tips to try out over the next few months
Frozen knickers... brrrr.... wouldn't they be a tad hard to get into??
Chilled panty liners... now there's an idea...

Put the bike back in the friend's garage!
Cougie - you're quoted in this months RW on the what's hot on the forums!
Not me - AGAIN....
Stop talking all sensible like and let's crack on with the freezing undies.....!

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it
