Livvy80: It shouldn't impact it at all. The registration system would still be handled by "London Marathon", Flora and Virgin are just sponsors. The marathon organisers are still the same. There would be a lot of very upset people if the rejections counter was reset to zero just because of a new sponsor.
I dont quite understand why they would limit the number of people that can enter a ballot, especially now its all online, it's not as if they would have 200,000 paper applications to open.
Flying Pig, could be because the chance of getting in then becomes more remote?
But I also can't see why they would lmit the number.
Are there any people on here who didn't manage to get in last year because the number limit was hit (not the time limit?). I seem to remember there was a huge rush in first few days with website problems etc, but then the ballot remained open for a couple of weeks after that until the limit was hit.
as a virgin media customer, this is about what to expect! arranging a certain party in a brewery comes to mind!
I went online yesterday (Sunday) and it certainly stated that the ballot was open at 9 am!
I've been waiting since 8.45 to get a server connection, perhaps THIS is the ballot, trying to get the server! Reminds me of the times queing at the Main post office, for the postal vote!!!!
I guess the reason they limit the number of people who can enter the ballot is that if they didn't, they could start running into problems with the number of places taken by people who've had 5 rejections. I guess it'll calm down later in the day, and should be much easier.

One hour 15 mins and counting........
Now trying to open the site from 3 PCs.
So far 2 hours sitting in front of my laptop, got a couple of pages into through the application process, and still waiting.
Glad to see "progress" from the bad old days when I had to spend 5 whole minutes filling out a paper application!
I read 9am....
What if it get's full because people have applied since 12am?
VERY frustraed as I'm still on the frt page!
I'm not even on that.
I assume it will calm down. fingers crossed anyway,
Last year i applied the following evening, so i doubt there is much danger of missing out just yet.
Looks like I am going to spend my day off in front of a PC trying to register for next year .. thats one way to recover from yesterday I suppose!
Anybody had any luck since about 8? I keep getting kicked out after the first page.
I've got a peculiar half-uploaded html page with "40 items remaining" and I've been waiting a whole half hour for that.
Really can't believe this is happening all over again.
best to go back later I think!
been trying since 08.30 and haven't even got onto the 1st page!!!!

I guess the way for today is to just be patient and sit it out while the masses access the site.
I'm thinking about what races I can do over the summer / autumn to get ready for it. Any ideas of a nice half marathon in September time?

If it's any help to anyone, I got a couple of pages in, and had to link to this page: https://www.virginlondonmarathon.com/ballot/uk/
Might have more success going straight to that page rather than the homepage, and have to click through
Surely they must have anticipated the demand there would be on the webiste this morning?
This is getting very frustrating now
