4. Two 'Yorkshire' tea-bags for a proper brew in a pint-mug providing a decent cuppa, or just wait until the spoon's disappeared, because it's corroded
5. Perhaps with a couple of slices of Malt-Loaf at the side of it?, definately not buttered though!!
(Soreen for preferance, but ASDA's is okay - I find the other supermarkets own-brands too dry/pallid looking)
Then, you'd love the 'Stanbury Splash' fell-race (7 miles/1200 feet) next year, as it's sponsored by Soreen
Upon signing-on, you receive a Malt-Loaf, & at the finish in the Cricket Club-house they use, there's as much as you can eat (up to a point, obviously)
Wow, Cori - homemade maltloaf must be an amazing thing!
Still can't get my head round the notion of black tea. For me, yes, tea has to be uber-strong (and therefore two teabags pummelled to within an inch of their lives if it's in a big mug) but always with milk.
I'm thinking of investing in a proper teapot. My parents actually make their brews in a big pot with looseleaf tea, and you can get so much more flavour out of it...
This morning i am mostly drinking Lipton (other brands are available) Ice Tea. Very nice on such a lovely summery morn, shame i'm in the chuffin office!
I've got mum's recipe somewhere LP - problem is I've never been able to find malt extract. Never got the time to make it anyway... and it wouldn't be as nice.
OK, the results of the survey to date are as follows:
North and tea - 16 (35%) North and coffee - 5 (11%)
South and tea - 13 (28%) south and coffee - 11 (24%)
Th south had marginally more responses (53%) than the north.
Tea is generally more popular than cofffee, in both the north and south (64% of respondants), but coffee appears to be more popular in the south than in the north.
the original suposition was that northerners drink tea and southerners drink coffee. The results of the survey tend to suggest that this is not quite the case. Both groups drink tea, but northerers tend NOT to drink coffee, whereas southerers are split more equally between the two beverages.
Mine's a coffee, black no sugar, and (seeing you're offering) a slice of malt loaf, buttered. thankyou.
I'm happy to take a social sciences angle and do a bit of follow-up qualitative work, if you like - focus groups and so on, pull out some emerging cultural themes, put together a conceptual framework?
Yeah, okay, so I'm procrastinating and should be doing my proper work...
... And from a political science perspective, this demonstrates that the North/South divide is an artefactual construct manufactured by those with access to the various agents of hegemony... probably the Tory party or lizard men from Venus

Corinth - you can get malt extract from chemists and wholefood shops. My mum used to give me malt extract mixed with cod liver oil when I was a kid.
Re Tea - I was always a Typhoo/Tetley/Yorkshire tea man. But I was working a weekend in a deserted staff room a few years ago and realised I'd brought no tea bags with me - So I raided my colleague's stash.
Whilst I was drinking it I thought 'Jeez... this is like drinking perfume' and put it down to the smelly stuff my female colleague wore. It was only when I looked at the packet that I realised it was Earl Grey...

Builders no sugar
Midlands
Tea. NATO standard (well brewed, bag in mug, full-fat milk, two sugars).
Southerner.
(Cornwall - can't get any further south than that)
1. I'm in Wakefield, in the heart of the West Riding of Yorkshire
2. Tea, but one particular brand; http://www.yorkshiretea.co.uk/ (one of the very few brand-names I insist on)
3. Black, no sugar. In a proper (pot) mug.

I've never seen as many boxes of Malt-Loaf, not even at a supermarket as I did there
'Ditto' ASDA, but their own-brand is only 28p/loaf (parsimonious Yorkshireman talking)My mum used to make it - I can still remember the smell wafting through the house - heaven.
Soreen is a good second best though
Mmmm...malt loaf....

Malt extract - maybe worth trying a brewery supplier?
My dad used to brew his own ale, and not yer crappy 'homebrew kit' stuff either - all raw ingredients, and bloody good!
But yeah, I can understand not wanting to make it if your mum's was really good - shame to spoil the memory....

<puts kettle on, gets malt loaf out to butter...>
Flippin eck... you need to get a job as a maths teacher.
Scientist actually! I was intrigued by the question, so had a bit of fun working out the answer.
Ta
*slurp, munch, mmm*

I have failed as a parent.
Tried my best but I clearly did something awry!
Just found out that my daughter like rooibos.
( sobs)
We've always got a jar of the stuff in the kitchen.
I drank tea till I was 12. Coffee ever since. South.
But now I live in Germany, so I drink beer or wine instead!
And there's another North-South split - most of northern Germany prefers wine, the south is beer land.
Cheers Parklife!

I've been addicted to the stuff ever since
