Blackbeard: Candy the Almost Unbelievably Great Admiral: Rosey the OK, RichM the Tiny, IronMike the Ginger Captain: Moneaky the Freaky Commander: Barlos the Coach (and erstwhile Banksy)
Hehe, Captain Funkin LOLers! He was only ever doing one you know
Loving the reports everyone, even though I was there I like to read what was going through your heads at the time, thanks for taking the time to write them, good things and less good things. Of course, it gets a bit smoky on occasion in the lounge.
One of my favourite moments of the day was Raf strolling up to us alongside the run course, saying, "I can't find my Pirate tee shirt but I did find this old thing" and uncovering his finisher tee Made me grin like a bloody loon it did.
That and Barley's bike in loo roll. Hahahahaaaaaa!
Pingu - nice work doing that on not your bike. The coke thing is an issue for some although we did know about it from the race pack it's still something you kind of come to expect at these races. I had a couple of cups of redbull during the run. No idea if they did their magic or not. I'm really glad I knew upfront that there were no gels on the bike course as I then loaded my bike with I believe 20 gels to get me through the ride. Oh so tasty!
Witnessing Barleys bike build was a true learning experience. Top marks mate. Loved the photographic reminder.
Slagiatt - good work for putting those words down. I loved your description of the bike course. Sorry that it didn't work out for you on the day.
Foggy - I love this from your report "I wont tell you what an awesome bike course it was, if you want to know, do the race!"
Rafiki - I saw you wrote "There were markers along the run course that showed the distance to the start/finish line so you can gauge how far you had to go." That never clicked in my head - I just thought the distance markers were shit and all wrong!
As for my report.... it's coming on. Mostly there (good job really as its over 5,500 words long. I suspect I may just stick it on my blog and link to it from here. I've also got some photos to post including a couple of lovely group shots from Route 66 on Sunday afternoon.
raf...loved the report...was sitting here reading parts out to my hubby............great to see that you go straight into the seamen position
Sue.not your day.....sadly with virtually every ship there will be people who don't get to that finish line.....but with determination you will get there.....

Nice report Rafi and a top performance!
Hard luck Sue. Best of British on your next race.
Great Report Rafi, well done again.
Hard luck Sue, hope your luck changes soon.
For those that were asking ..
The Rank system.
On a points basis, where only IM distance or longer counts for points. Its not a knitting club.
- 1 point per IM finish.
- 1 bonus point for doing the extra hard ones (norseman, lanzarote and [but only if you get in by the honourable route, qualification] hawaii).
- 2 points for double IM finish. 3 points for Triple, 5 points for Deca.
- 1 bonus point for every time you win a shield or set a record (above).
- 1 bonus point for becoming “reasonably competent” (i.e. the first time you crack 12 hours).
- 1 bonus point for becoming “outstanding” (i.e. the first time you crack 10 hours).
- -1 point for a DNF (its not a quitting club).
- Note that if you miss cut off but still finish the course (even if it takes 20 hours) then you still get the point.

Nice reporting Rafi, you're wise words of support and encouragement of "Oi, fat arse!" were most helpful!

Does IM Wales make the list an extra hard one?
Thank fook I went under 12 hours last time then. Scurvey Dog to Junior Pirate with no Seaman in sight!

Great report Raf ... Think I better get one of those headset mottos done for the next time I foget my man suit
So sorry it wasn't your day either Sue ... Sucks doesn't it
I think Holly probably owes a report on her 17hours endurance drinking event (possibly longer) ... Now that's true Pirate dedication to the cause .
Stats for the geeks
Nice stats
I am an admiral now!
Guys - you know the little pack of aloe stuff we got? Is the little bottle of 'gel hydrant' shower gel or moisturiser?
Shower gel as baby Pingu discovered when she tried to use it as after sun!!!
(laughing quite a lot right now)
Fab. Thank you.
Did she go all frothy?
Yes!

Cant wait to see the group shots Funkin
Great race reports one and all.
Foggy and Slag - some days you catch fish, other days you mend the nets.
Even though she wasn't racing did Holly cry at the swim start anyhow?
If this works... this should link to two photos taken last Sunday - the starters and the finishers.
There should be a link somewhere on the page to download the photos too if you desire. They'ze huge!

Is that Meldy in a skirt?
OK, my report is far too long to post here so here's a link to it.
