Been getting some problems with my ears that it seems are not entirely just related to me getting old and are more likely to be due to the manky water at the local pool. Any recomendations on good swim ear plugs ?.. i realise that what suits one wont necessarily suit all .. But would appreciate any guidance from those of you that have used them .. cheers folks

the mouldable ones were no good for me so I use the speedo plug ones
Suffered a bit with ear trouble in the early days but no troubles since
Or a neoprene gimp hat...........
The only thing about the cheap earplugs is that they have a habit of falling out, nothing worse than finding someones yellow ear plug floating around the swimming pool, its like a twisted kiss chase
If I had to choose then it would have to be a high quality, purely to save the embarrassment of loosing one, plus they get rid of ear infections a but quicker
The price difference isn't that much between a cheap pair from somewhere like boots which is over a £5 http://www.boots.com/en/ClearEars-Water-Absorbing-Ear-Plugs-5-Pairs_983957/ compared to somewhere who actually specialise like http://www.allearplugs.com/ear-plugs/swimming-earplugs/
I'm watching this thread with interest... I usually buy Zoggs or Speedo cheapies online (£2-£3) but in batches of three as my 'leaky' right is also tends to have plugs escape from it on a frequent basis. If anyone has issue with left side, I have about ten spare at home!!
Would like to find plugs that stay in place as losing £2 a month in OW is not a problem unless it's in first few minutes of hour+ swim, which then becomes incredibly annoying.

EDIT: just found these - http://www.comfyearplugs.com/macks-aquablock-ear-plugs.html
then I tried mouldable ones and they work fine as well so perhaps try them??
so update from my side... tried the mouldable ones ... bit of a faff to get in and out , but worked well enough once in ... no good for the coached sessions though i think as needed to take them out to hear instruction , and a real fiddle to get to re-seal .
Got some of the macks aquablock ones , trying those this eve ... although the trial run in the bath last night was very succesful
Recently i bought a pair of ear plugs from safetydirect.Really they are very helpful to me and helped a lot for my insnomia. They are Disposable or reusable, easy-to-clean earplugs with plastic carrier and also Ideal for hardhats - can be worn with band under the chin or behind the neck,If you want you can visit that website. Many varieties are there. I rellay enjoyed shopping online in that website www.safetydirect.ie

Slagiatt - how are you getting on now?
Hi Shas , well i tried a few but the ones that seen to work best for me are the Macks aquablock ones .. pretty comfortable .. a little fiddly to get in but not too bad. They are about 4 or 5 quid for 2 pairs from Amazon and fleabay . No further ear issues so swimming back on track .. just the cycling and running that are a mess now
No chinstrap though
you cant beat Bioears!

I was chased around the pool this morning by a used plaster, it was like a scene from Jaws ( I screamed like a shark attack victim). I got to the edge safely and was comforted by the pool guard who heroically got the big net out.
I jsut use cheep ones .. from local chemist and have no problems even for swims up to 4hrs
We have gone through and lost quite a lot over last few years but whilst doing the rounds of home bargains last week for cleaning stuff i found they also had the silicon ones we normally use - 79p for 6, i have pixy ears so split them in half and OH just loses them so they are helpful being bright orange! (worth a try and loads cheaper than everywhere else!)
I had some made by my hospital ENT department (they usually make them for children) after a couple of years of recurrent ear infections. £20 they cost me, a bargain. Worth asking...
I have lost count of the amount of swimming goggles i have left. I too have little pixie ears and have trouble finding earplugs that don't come out. Finally, found some that are brill. Speedos. Very difficult to describe ..... i'd say they are shaped like little umbrellas.
I have recently bought some speedo ear plugs, I forget I have them in most of the time...................Pardon ?
