  • Yeah Cat, i'm doing that one as well I believe

  • Nice Pingu. Well done Mouse too!
  • Cheers SA and Mouse.  Yes, definitely only Outlaw!

It was an Audax ride, was supposed to be 150km but we cycled there and back ( image ).  Tbh, I didn't give it much thought, just went, yeah, I'll go on that, really haven't  done the training to back it up this year, I was slow, lost my last gel so nearly bonked and I'm knackered now!  The first 90 miles were fab, beautiful scenary, lovely weather .. the last 20 hurt image

beautiful morning here for Silverstone  image

Think I'll follow a Pirate tradition and use a new pair of trainers for the run  image

  • image is it the half today?
  • 4.5 hour bike for me today. I've even caught the sun a little!!!!

Pingu 110 is bliddy imprressive girl. I was going to see if you fancied a ride together soon.... but **cough** I may leave it a few weeks! I need to catch up!

  • Nice biking Hope!

Hope the SIlverstone crew had a good day, must be near perfect conditions out there today

When the plan says a turbo and the forecast says a run .... it really was too good a day not to go out and run, the great oudoors is good for the soul

  • Isn't it just Melds. We just HAVE to make the most of it in this country. I'm glad you got out there.

I feel a lot happier about yesterdays mixed up training now, I definitely had the better weather, so it's all good!

Great race and perfect conditions. Saw ISB and Little Sister and even got a bit burnt out there!
Think I finished in about 1hr 44mins which is good for me.
    happy days!
Hope everyone else has made the most of todays weather.

... I hope it's OK, as my longest ride this year is 2hrs 40min.
My only full IM this year is Wales in September, but I don't want to let the team down with my Outlaw bike leg.
Luckily I'm doing a v hilly 80 mile sportive (the Hammer)in 3 weeks. Could be a little uncomfortable!

    <edit> X-post - well done Slim!

I was just wondering (ie fretting cos I've had a few bad rides the last few weekends), what are people up to for long rides at the moment please, timewise?  I know it's wrong to compare really but would just like to get a bit of a feel.

    Thank you please

From some of the private conversations I've had, there are quite a lot of people who aren't churning out the high mileage and that's ok.

I certainly aint racking up big mileages yet M.ouse,  self imposed week off finishes at 5am tomorrow with a 22 mile commute into work on the fixie still a few weeks off running yet so the speedwalking will have to continue image

  • Me & Mrs SA completed a hilly 80 mile sportive today, really enjoyed it, Mrs SA didn't like the hills, dead proud of her for keeping going when it was hurting, I felt strong even up the bigger hills so really pleased with where I am at the moment.

Great to catch up with ironHolgs and Cona as always and really good to meet Muffin Top, thats was good riding from you MT, sorry Holgs snaped a spoke

Not sure the swimathon that we have just got back from was too much of a good idea, but gave it everything and set a new club record for team lengths completed.

Off to the pub now, think we earned it

  • Joddly .. I will see you either at swimming tomorrow or at about 1800 in the stadium  image
  • Mouse, most I have made is a 50 mile a couple of weeks ago, and it hurt.
  • Really enjoyed the Jodrell Bank 80 mile ride  today. Thanks to Mr and Mrs SA, great help and fantastic company. Nice to meet Iron Holgs and Cona too.

That is my someway my furthest ride and I am chuffed as it felt good and I still managed to jump off the sofa to cheer on England (swear at the ref) this afternoon.

  • Finally got some big miles in myself this morning... and the first ride where I have been out with people and put the foot down a bit image Did 82 miles!!!
  • First Half Marathon for 3 years.....PB by 33mins

Finished in 1:46:44, very very surprised and very pleased

First 3 miles 8.30 mins per mile, last 3 mile 7.30 mins per mile

Training begining to pay off, now its time to hit the bike

Also great support from the crowd in cambridge and it was my first venture out in Pirate Colours, definatly a big help

  • Nice weekend of training for me. Nothing too heavy, but a lovely run with Muffin yesterday and a marked increase in pace. Then an 800m time trial where I felt wholly inadequate and rubbish, but posted a 20-second PB (despite her finishing 6 lengths ahead of me image). Thirty mile bimble on the bike today in the sunshine just felt lovely. Felt the love for anybody else who was out doing something they enjoy at 7:30 am. Even the anglers!

Feeling the urge to spend some money on kit. I think a set of PX wheels, a new wetsuit and a saddle would scratch the itch image

  • teamed up with the local group ride......  seems fast , but after an hour I am on the front........

Downside is the extra hour for cake / socialising
Upside is the company and socialising
    2 doing Austria, 2 doing Henley, a couple doing UK......+ a v fast lady

All going great today, till going round a corner..... I'm on the front with another guy, and I think.... bugger must be getting a flat on the back as that felt really sketchy........ look down but all ok.....as we hear CRUNCH!!!!!

One guy went down, (same patch I hit probably), and the lady then went over him + carried on falling.....
The shrieks as we went back were not pretty.......  Cracked helmet......

Ambulence promply called, but by the time the paramedics turn up shes on her feet but very bashed and bruised,,,,,,no broken bones but 2 buggered bikes.......  all at 20-25 kph......

Felt like summer, but the roads are still a bit sliimy........

So the 6 hr ride ended up as 4.25, but it was still fun, (sort of if you know what I mean)
I need to get out for an hour ahead of the ride I think

  • Goodness OC, sounds like a lucky escape there
  • Saturday I did a Coastal hike - not exactly TRI specific but helps with fitness and strength
Sunday was a short trail run

  • Just re-read this page and there's some inspirational work going on.... PB's, longest distances covered, great racing... all good and very impressive! Well done crew!!
  • My faster run at lunch today.

10k in under 43 minutes with Zone 4 efforts for miles 3 and 5 (done in 6mins 20ish for each).  Don't enjoy those effort miles at all!

I think that must be close to my PB for 10k and I reckon I would be faster maintaining a more level pace throughout, but guess it doesn't count oustide a race.

I was very encouraged to read the variety in training and most of us seem to be in the same ballpark.  Joddly, you've got a couple of months on us so wouldn't expect you to be doing the same sort of time/distance.

Nice work on the sportive Assassins!

I also managed a 1hr 45 min run so I'm feeling much better now, I hope I can hold it together this week.

I'm just waiting for VT'd to come into the thread, we have been derailing a thread elsewhere talking about transition....

    *sits patiently*

  • I like rest days.

    image

1 hr swim for me and now off to bed!
