Nursey, whats the weather like up your end at the moment ... any chances of getting some outdoor action?
Bit personal there, Melds.
It's not the weather that's stopping me from getting outside this week, it's hubby working and me having the weans to look after. Turbo is the only chance I have to get on t'bike.
First planned exercise (park run) of the New Year cancelled due to being struck down with man flu for the second time in a couple of months, might still go out for a little cycle ride this afternoon though.
Hopefully recover to do the planned swim sessions tomorrow & Monday.
Well done everyone else who's made a good start.
Lots of Ironmen cherries to be broken on here this year
I have been for a cycle OUTDOORS ! A couple of white-knuckle moments due to potholes and crap on the road (the joy of rural living), but boy did it feel good to be out. 41mins, ave 12.8mph.
It is my birthday today (I now know what it feels like to be the answer to life, the universe and everything) and hubby is working tonight, so I'm having a couple of friends round for dinner and a girls night in. Almost the end of the festive over-indulgence. Rest day tomorrow, and off to a spa on Monday for some 5-star pampering. There is a pool, so I shall swim a bit.
Nice one Nursey, and Happy birthday! I spent all year waiting for the answer to make sense and it never did.
Andy, good going.
Loved the bike ride today. Saw the usual roadkill (and a buzzard for the first time, poor thing), had the usual few assholes passing within inches of me, but had a great time. Tried to keep in Z2 but not easy around here (hilly as a hilly place). Averaged about 16mph I think, bike computer packed in at mile 25.
Getting my lovely kit today made it feel like my birthday too, and I got the bike off the turbo for the first time since November and tested out my new gear. Totally misjudged the daylight hours and ended up cycling in the dark with no lights, but thoroughly enjoyed myself. kept drifting into z3, though, so will have to watch that.
Now I'm gonna say something girly and you must not hold it against me.... For chlorine hair try redken cleansing cream and quality good moisturiser. It works. Sorry, moment now passed.
Enjoy day 1 of your plan Tim, going to try and write mine later after parting company on Friday night with my coach/sponsor. Just glad actually I now know where I stand and have my Outlaw in MY hands.

No? Thought not.
Yep Eau de Chlorine is constantly with me!
Nice 34 mile bike ride, first time I've had the road bike off the turbo for a couple of months and it felt great.
Well done mate. I'd rather take my bike out in a blizzard than stick it on a turbo
Just back from a 43 miler, with man flu, feel a bit better for it as it goes. Had only intended going out for an 1-2 hours.
Not sure about swimming tomorrow though, could turn into a bit of a snot fest, which wouldnt be nice for the other swimmers.

Managed another rehab run before work so hoping to continue in an upwards direction !
happy birthday Nursey have a great evening
Thanks for the good wishes folks
My hair smells of chlorine for days after so I have started to where my swim cap in the pool.
Happy birthday Nursey
You just want to wear your dress again don't you Raf
Set a PB at parkrun this morning - 20:22 although it is my first one so any time would be a pb
Then straight out on the bike with Seren, good to have company. Boy do I smell nice now after the parkrun and ride
Happy Birthday Nursey

Happy Birthday Nursey, what's the plan - binge drinking? Xxx

Also for chlorine hair - wet hair thoroughly before swimming and then it will absorb less
10 more churches picked off on todays ride

Man flu well and truely embedded for me so no swimming today, probably no nothing for a few days now either (except work). Great start to the plan
Sorry to hear that Andy, get well.
Ooh, not good SD.
You need to REST. That means NO exercise/training until you are BETTER.
And if you don't do what you're told I will sneak into your house, put laxatives in your tea, break your legs and keep your bedpan in the freezer.
That's not good SD, hope you're feeling better soon! I've had a dodgy start to my plan too, due to a bad knee!
It seems there are many people on here doing their first Ironman this year, good luck to everyone who's just started their plan!
Tomorrow's the first day ... rest day!
hope you had a nice birthday Nursey.
Get better soon SD.

Best of luck going it alone Holgs, although I suspect you may just know what you're doing
