Yes I think so what about you?
  • Thanks Deva Duck- may run to Seacombe to take the ferry and turn it into a 15K run!

  • Merseyrail are laying on some free trains back.

  • The trains are NOT free. They have been in the past but no longer. Anyone using the MerseyRailnetwork will be required the appropriate fare for their journey.

  • Mr Puffy.., we simply MUST meet up. Without fail. Call it "Gazelle" rules. Photos too.

Still recovering from Edinburgh but roped 8-9 in from work so running with 45 from Williams Warriors team in aid of Dravats Syndrome UK.

Going to see them all through the line.
  • TUNNEL 10K ENTRIES CLOSED! Please note the event is full at 3,000 and entries are closed. There is nothing wrong with the web site, just that entries have been removed. No numbers left at all.

Please enter earlier next year if you haven't got a place. Stewards will in position to stop anyone just joining in. Please don't as it spoils it for everyone else.

Wow - Alan, congratulations on a full house.

Fingers crossed for the weather now image

  • And the phone is still going with people asking the same question! Why can't people enter earlier. It does help as we can accept more entries but we need to know a month ago not today!! Can't accept any more as we have a set amount of medals and T shirts.

  • Re: trains/prices - I would update this - http://www.runliverpooltunnel10k.co.uk/content/faqs - and the info you sent out as I'm sure it will cause a bit of havoc!

  • Thank you indeed. That was left over from the 2010 event and will be removed. The Race Instructions for the Tunnel 10K are quite clear. MerseyRail are not providing free train transport.

I'm pleased to say the Birkenhead Tunnel was before my time! Does anyone have any recollection of when the race used the Birkenhead Tunnel? Where did it start and where did it finish??

As I'm an old fart I think I can remember. image

The start was to the side of St Georges Hall in front of The Walker, Picton & Museum. A quick downhill and into the tunnel. Pretty sure the Chester Street exit was used - then across Hamilton Square and onto Canning Street, across the docks to Seacombe and the finish was the same, at Tower Grounds.

Looking forward to this on Sundayimage

  • I've got a programme from the 1994 race (Diamond Jubilee of the Queensway Tunnel) but strangely there are no details of the event in the publication. Just a list of 4,168 names of those taking part and I'm listed although don't remember doing it!! Bizarre.

That's it - it was an anniversary event - I remember now!

  • Staggering that just a couple of days before the event the high number of casual phone calls and emails coming to the office asking about places for the Tunnel 10K.

None left I'm afraid, all 3,000 have been taken up - but if people entered by the closing date then it is always possible we can do something. At this stage of proceedings it's just not possible.

Moral of the story ENTER EARLY!! I hate refusing people but a bit of help with earlier applications would be very useful.

  • Hoping this weather improves for Sunday. Just dry and less wind would b great. After I've done this 1 I'll have all available run Liverpool distances ticked off!
  • Well done Luke.

As for the weather looking perfect to me. Cool around 13c, dry and no wind. Possibilty of rain around lunchtime.

Looking forward to this yet again. Early night tonight. Early start from Preston in the morning.

  • Almost time.

Bumping up to jump above all this spam
  • Really enjoyed my run today, conditions superb, no wind, not too hot and a great sunny view of Liverpool across the water.

As always good organisation, good technical tee shirt and a nice healthy banana at the finish.

Many thanks to Alan and the team.

Congratulations Alan - another very well organised event. You even managed to sort the weather image

  • A good race today. I for one appreciate Alan going the extra mile for us runners by putting in an extra water station at around the 7/8k mark but I was disappointed to find that when I got to that point today in around the hour mark that the water had all gone. I do normally carry a small water bottle but having done this race previously and knowing there would be water stations at 5k and between 7 & 8k I didn't do this today. Also by the time I finished there was no water left at the end but I did have a bottle in my bag on the bus. It was great conditions today but warm so water was needed. So a few people being treated by the medics for de-hydration along the prom to New Brighton. No doubt ample water was provided but used by the quicker runners. Feel sorry for the few hundred behind me.

Apart from that the usual well organised Run Liverpool event. No doubt we'll be back next year!!

  • First time ive done any form of racing. been more of a casual jogger in the past. absolutely delighted i completed it in 46.36. 3 minutes off my previous PB.

Congrats on a well organised event, well impressed. Definately do more running in the future.

  • How do you get dehydrated on a 10k ? It wasn't that hot today was it ?
  • Really enjoyed the race, Can't beleive I took my Garmin and expected it to pace me through the tunnel though....image

  • Cougie, it wasn't actually that hot. 16 degrees maybe. Warm but not unpleasant.

As for dehydration, People may be over dressing and too hot.., or going too fast through the tunnel, paying the penalty and needing to stop perhaps.

GazOC, if you did manual laps on your garmin, worked fine in the tunnel.

Got my splits right the way round. Better race tactic anyway, running the proper distance not the "Garmin" distances.

Great race Alan, really well organised.

Lovely tshirt also. Can find it in the dark I think image

Oh, Alan, had a nice hour plus in New Brighton...now they have all the extra development there maybe this could be pushed more in future years?

Seemed fairly busy anyway... But a bit of PR/ sponsorship from fair/ bowling/Morrisons/ light house cinema/ casino & 3-4 restaurant / cafes in the race pack?

Thought anyway. Voucher for free coffee in supermarket, icecream in parlour..(if buying another).

    Great event though
  • Oh, may have 2-3 willing volunteers for marathon helper duties in October also from Williams Warriors/ Dravets Syndrome UK that I was running for.
  • Really really enjoyed this one. Will definitely run again. PB into the bargain too.

  • Judith - we had 200 less participants on the day than last year and last year we took around 2,000 bottles of water back to storage. In post race discussion amongst the volunteers it seems many people were taking more than one bottle and some were using it to pour over themselves. This would acount for why the supply was exhausted near the end.

I did go and retrieve what was left at the 5K point to ensure those still on the course had something at the end. Apologies for any inconvenience.

FRC - already in discussion about same. Thank you for the Marathon Volunteers.

  • Had an absolute nightmare with merseyfail that meant I missed the gun and started near the back. Still great run though and very well organised. Well done Alan.
  • Luke - what was the problem with the trains??
