Hi Folks
Cos my other love is writing, it was inevitable that I'd eventually start a blog about my efforts to try and get (and maintain) fitness in my forties: RunWalkCrawl. Training, gear reviews and niggles, race reports, other stuff ... I'm doing it because it's fun, and also to hopefully keep myself motivated. First tri in June, so that'll feature heavily, as does my first marathon (last Sunday!) Please take a look around and let me know what you think!
And if any of you also blog about your running/cycling/real-ale-affliction/swimming/procrastinating (I know quite a few do) and you'd like to swap a link, let me know.
Cheers,
Tim

Hi Tim, I like your blog - I did one to cover my training for the London Marathon (also my first) Confessions of a London Marathon Virgin!
(which i still need to finish by the way! race report is missing still)
Now i'm wondering whether to do a general one or just change the title and keep on writing? Like you i much prefer off road / trail running and would like to do more distance off road (most of my marathon training was off road)
its been fun writing about it though

Writing this from an iPad and don't see a link button so I apologize if the link isn't very pretty.
Thanks guys. Great blogs! I love reading about other people's training.
For the likeminded. Heres mine, update it every Sunday. Plotting my experience from chain smoking slob last June to hopefully Ironman in 2013.

Thanks guys, great blogs. I'll link to yours from mine over the weekend...
As for name change, no way I'd think up my own nickname!
gastank, lovely looking blog!
Do you want to post the link in the Fatman to Ironman FB group, i'm sure the others will have a chuckle, in fact, any of you with blogs feel free to post the links to your blogs in here if you like.

O.rangeCannon ... first, where the hell does your nickname come from?
Nice blog. I'm aiming to do Ironman Wales next year. It'll be my first. I know it's not necessarily the easiest (if that word can be applied to an IM at all) ... but, well, I'm Welsh (ish). And Tenby's tidy, butt!
Guys, I've linked to all your blogs from mine. Doesn't mean you'll get any more visitors. But you never know.
I need to work out how to do that
The other bit is 'its not a knitting club' in spanish - thats the unoffical pirate motto, and I am off to Lanza so........
oh and the dots are because I am a tart
another poor attempt to accurately log a mid life crisis here.. I am going to enjoy looking at the other blogs above.

SD, good effort! Just a thought (for everyone): is stuff ever nicked? Reading about you stuffing your Garmin in one shoe and bike computer in the other, I couldn't help thinking that it'd be tragic if things did go missing at these events. Just wondering if that's ever happened to anyone. Doubt I'll even both with my Garmin for my first sprint (bloody thing's playing up anyway).
I'm feeling a bit odd having the only 'normal' name on here, so thanks to Gastank I'm about to become DimTimTris. Farewell, Tim Lebbon.
All - I have friend who has entered the virgin London tri sprint BUT is threatening to pull out because he hasn't start working on his swim yet... He can swim but not FC - I want to point him at a blog to give him some inspiration - who of you started from zero swimming ability or limited swimming ability and did a race in say 12 - 15 weeks (he can run and bike, so really it's mind over matter from my view) I think he just lacks confidence
& without my nose clip. That was a big part of me getting better at it. I could concentrate more on the stroke without worrying about snorting water. Technique must have improved for me to do tonights session without snorting water.
I've still got a long long way to go though. Probably going tomhave a crack at doing my next Tri front crawl. I can always change to breaststroke if it goes wrong.
