Quotes from ticker:
<The day starts day in SailFish Quay. With the water temperature hovering around 22 degrees wetsuits are highly recommended.>
<I can see some people have chosen NOT to wear a wetsuit. Brave, silly or extremely resilient to the cold?>
Sounds pretty warm to me. What a bunch of softies these Aussies must be.
GO KANGA!!
Race no 108 for anyone on nights who cares to follow his progress

74k - 0:57:12
102k - 0:54:37

That would take him to 0430am so guessing tracker's stopped updating and he should be off the bike by now. Unless he's had a Roth repeat
Go Pirate!
According to ironmandead, he's just come out of T2.
And he's just been sighted on MrsKangalive via FB
Probably had a beer in T2
T1 was 9:51 and T2 was 8:24 so that may have been his second beer of the day.
Macca (who didn't do much long training either) finished in 09:05:12
About 10 more miles running for Kanga to do.
Morning! He's almost at the 31K mark, woo hoooo! Amazing what some folk are up to while we were all having a lovely sleep
11.2K to go, woo hooooooo!
Its getting close to beer Oclock fpr kanga
There's no sandbag prize to go after this year. Maybe that's why he's slower.
Hi Gang,
My brother has just finished Cairns Ironman, Swim 1.32, Bike 5.56, Run 5.42, Total time 13.26.52. not his best time, looks like he nailed the bike but had a tough marathon. I take my hat off to him he's in the 50-54 age group.
C,mon Kanga
About 3k to go.
C'mon you Aussie Mincer!
I seem to remember him telling me that Ironman was meant to be three consecutive events... And there's him taking the best part of 20 minutes in transition FFS!!!
And after a 1.45 swim! I thought Aussies were born knowing how to at least doggie paddle! Clearly not!
Keep shuffling!!!
His no 108 is not registering !!!!
Got him now..
From the feed:
Luis Alverez of Mexico holds the record of having attended all the Ironman Races around the world – at least once! After finding out at Ironman Melbourne in March about the Cairns addition he reshuffled his already packed Ironman Schedule (Alveraz will be competing in 12 Ironman this year and has made it to the start line to ensure his record stays intact.) Two weeks again he completed the Memorial Herman Ironman in Texas; today was his 84th Ironman. He flies out first thing tomorrow to attend a board meeting, which means the Ironman record chaser will have spent more time in the air getting to Cairns than he has on the ground.
Luis told me the other day he intends to spend the entire 17hours on course today and get his money's worth. He lied! I missed the finish, he crossed the line in 13:59:00. His reason for hurrying along today? "I had until 10pm only to return the rental car"!!
He's finished.. Long day at the office. Good work Kanga
Yayy! Rock on dude! Beer o'clock
Woo hoooo! Well done mate, top pirating! 14:45:14
Yay Kanga - not bad off no training
I still hope he was in pirate kit.
