I saw a few trailers of Citizen Khan and it looked so bad I thought I would see for myself last night. Looking past the stereotyping and the "mind your language" feel to it, was this just the most unfunny comedy on TV. Where were the jokes? The Guardian seemed to give it a rave review but then again they raved about the awful Parades End too.

What's a TV? Transvestite?
I really liked it.
I think the Joke was in the title my little green skirted Rosebud.
I remember a programme when I was a kid that featured a character called Paki Paddy. Shocking.
I managed about 5 minutes before switching over. I suspect that I just don't get the jokes or the references but the British Pakistani and possibly other Asian communities do.
When I saw it was BBC 3 after 10 pm I knew it would be rubbish anyway.
Its so bad it's good,
every one of them?
I've not heard that, I've heard moans about poor acting and bad jokes but not seen anything about it causing offence, give it chance in 12 months time they may be giving it an award for something, all the best sitcoms take time to grow, not everyone gets it first time round
Didn't see this one, but I thought Parade's End was good SRNLR.
A rather curius programme (the 'westernised' daughter was amusing for a while)
Certainly not a patch on 'Goodness Gracious Me!" though
I wonder what the reaction would have been like (from the 'Guardianists' if it had ben wrote by a white srcript-writer??? (rather than the guy who played Mr Khan)
Obviously, it would have been teribly racist thien
I wonder if Father Ted ever got the same reaction from the Irish & the Cathloci Church?? (as that's playing to stereotypes, surely?)
I was shocked as to how bad it was. Can I have my licence fee back please? Parades End was disappointing - great filming but the accents seemed odd, why did BC bother with cheek fillers and it was boring. Will give the next episode a go just in case but no extra chances for Citizen Khan. Now Father Ted, that was pure genius right from the start and up there with all the comedy greats!
Why thank you Sussex Runner - did you watch Rev? Not quite up there with FT but another great comedy. I want my licence fee to fund more like that please!
What about the other charactors???
Mrs Doyle?
John & Mary (shopkeepers who hated each other, but were 'nice as pie' when Ted etc... were there?)
Tom (the 'village idiot'/tanker driver)
Seems there have been a ton of complaints about Citizen Kane. The risk of offending a few Muslims might have worth it for a brave new comedy but this was a comedy 40 years out of date.
Father Ted on E4 tonight - magic! And one of the best lines - "Get the feckin' crunchies out of the car"!! Comedy gold!
Father Ted was comedy magic.
Citizen Khan was worse than dreadful. Off the mark stereotypes and not even funny.
As for Mrs Brown's Boys - I really struggled to sit through an episode of that bilge.
*throws slipper at telly*
Only caught about 10 minutes of Citizen Khan last night, humour is very one dimensional as it seems like one continual play on stereotypes and little else. Will give it another chance though as i did only get the tail end of the episode.
Father Ted...so good that I bought the box set twice!!
