Cheers Andy. Think that's been the key to my improvement as well. I'll just keep banging out the miles then. (As soon as I can walk again after Sandy Lane left me in pieces!)
Hay heow how are you today, my legs are well DOMS'ed but they'll good for a run by thursday, as long as its taken flat and steady biggest priority is a full recovery then going all in for helsby in Jan. Cant wait to get me teeth into the training and mileage. Love the training.
Luke ellis 2- dont feel intimidated by any training plans though. I find that most runners can get better just a) getting more consistent and b) doing more
The problem is some people struggle to understand that option b doesn't allways mean adding quality. Usually steady miles can make the difference your after.
You asked, so I shall give you the truth... I am like a bag of boiled shit. In bed, destroyed. Reason being: didn't recovery fuel correctly. A latte, wine and beer and pizza has caused dehydration. I never learn. You not jumped on the FB Chester group yet?
Only 1.8 from ours, the bus shelter opposite the petrol station is 2.1 from our house, the hair dressers in Helsby is 3' the tyre place by the school is 4 and the railway bridge at the bottom of the hills to Frodsham is 5
OK - bit of an odd question, as I'm not too familiar with the area.
Mrs O is a great supporter and likes to meet me at various points on a course when I'm running, by biking around. I've had a look at the course map and I can see several points where she can do this but I'm struggling a bit with the last bit between the Manley Lane/Sugar Lane area and the finish.
Is there any way of her getting from that point to the finish without having to back track over the first part of the course (or getting knocked off her bike by runners ) ?

Hi Orbutt. She could follow the course along Manley Rd, but the stay on until Primrose Lane. If she then went down there she'd meet up with the route about 200 yards from the finish.
Oh - and pub wise... Stamford Bridge is really nice, but there are a few others in the area as well. The White Lion in Alvanley is good, as is the Goshawk in Mouldsworth. The Bulls Head in Frodsham does a really nice Sunday lunch as well.
Other than the Helsby Arms there's only the Railway actually in Helsby, and I'd avoid that one...
That is a shame about the White Lion. They use to serve nice real ale. This is what you need after a half marathon.I am normally "supporting" instead or "running" this one but I still need a couple of pints afterwards.
The White Lion was really good 4 or 5 years back, But slowly went down hill. After it was done up last year we have been in 4 or 5 times, But nowhere near like it was, And The Stamford Bridge is such great value we go there once a month at least

I'm in 1180th to enter. After horrible last 6 miles at Chester yesterday,I'm looking forward to a more sensible distance !
Got an email from the organisers today, 1200 signed up already with a limit of 2000 runners, will be full up within a week or so.

Right, on board number 1856. Got a target to aim for again and feel revitalised after last weekends marathon
Does anyone know a decent pub for after the race? Just wondering if folks fancy a pint?
I've just run to the Helsby Arms as its exactly 2 miles from our house
Stanford Bridge is usually quite nice
In that case pints?
Yeah the Stamford doe's a crackin meal and really nice pint!
And if you can get on the mailing list, the 2 meals for the price of one mid week is a real bargin, all washed down with a nice pint of piffle.
Holgs first showed me, Min, Viking and our other halves "the book" in the Stamford Bridge
Dave, Helsby Arms is 2.8 miles from our house...

Thanks Paul, I'll check it out.
Isn't local knowledge wonderful.
The White Lion has gone down hill since it was done up.....

Maybe lost a bit of it's charm, but still a nice pub, imo. I liked the extremely rare steak I had there a couple of months ago anyway
My local is less than 25 yds from my front door..... But apart from crisps they don't do food !
Which one is that Dave?
The Wheelies

I've entered this race, have done several times before and never made it because of injury. Hoping that won't be the case this time around.
