I'm determined to do a full iron distance event before I turn 40 (in 2016) but this sounds fantastic, is 12 months too short a time to train considering I've not really trained properly since the Vitruvian in 2011 ???
I was thinking Sprint distance in 2014, half in 2015 and finally the big one in 2016 but a fairly local (flat) event could be even more tempting.
Oh, and if it takes place on August 10th it's the day before my birthday...way to celebrate !!!
I am going make this a priority in lieu of the Outlaw ( IMW hopefully as an A race, when I say race it's more about the completion. just like to say race, race). Thought I would take a year off from the Outlaw to give some other pirate a place
Just to bring you up to speed on where we are with the 226 race for next year We're officially 'go' now and have set the date formally as August 10th There's still a couple of options for bike and run courses available to us, which we're finalising with various councils, police, land owners etc, but all the options we have are very flat and very fast, which is a bonus.
We're just putting the finishing touchs to cotswold226.com, but in the meantime any info will be postd up on 113events.com and entries will open on Nov 1st
It's difficult to tell what the demand will be in 2014, but we've set out break even point a few hundred in order to keep entry fees low and if we're lucky enough to get a really good demand, then we'll cap it at around 500, so we build it gradually and see how many the course will take without turning it into a massive draft fest.
Anyway, if you get any questions, get in touch (07595 591612) and more info on all our 2014 events is available on our recent newsletter, which you can find here http://www.113events.com/2013/10/oct13/
Would love to do this, but conflicted with the event in Ashfordnthe week before which has an aqua bike (swim/bike) for the poorly kneed Mr F. Any hope of that as an option?
Signed up , now the rebuilding starts, strange how the sun always comes out and the world looks full of possibility when the credit card has had an airing!
For those of you not familiar with our new race for 2014 ; Cotswold226 is our new Long distance (2.4/112/26.2) Triathlon based out of the same Cotswold Waterpark lake as our existing Middle Distance races, but on an entirely new course on August 10th 2014
We also have a free bespoke training plan made out specifically for the event by our friends at weeman coaching to help competitors who either want to step up to full distance or are just looking for a structure to their training.
We will also be holding a free of charge familiarisation day where you can swim in the lake and try the courses out with our guys.
In the next couple of weeks we'll be in a position to publish the Bike and Run courses, and as a heads up, they're going to be very, very fast. The run course has an almost immeasurably low gradient +/-, and the bike course is both flat and has decent road surfaces.
The bike course is going to be two 56mile laps and the run course will be 4 laps totalling 26.2miles.
Entries for the 226 are still open and more information is available at www.cotswold226.com

They have a campsite next door
Ta, could be the solution, although I do like a proper bed the night before an IM! Guess I am soft.
watching with interest..
Just seen this on twitter:
"@Cotswold113: Provisional dates for 2014 ; June 15th - 113 Middle distance Aug 10th - 226 Iron Distance Aug 31st Classic Middle distance"
holding off on Outlaw after two efforts, looking for something new ....
As I'll probably still be recovering from IMUK I will marshal again.
Great location. Done middle dist as relay and marshalled bike legs last couple of years.
free camping for marshals plus loads of coffee & bacon but ties to keep you going.
as a vegeterian will therefore be unable to marshall so shall have to race instead

if you want to do it 12 months is plenty of time .depends if you have the time and determination .many many have done it in less time..
Oh and my birthday is the 11th August, so a little adventure on the 10th would be a good way to celebrate !
I guess that is the pirate way...

thanks also, getting excited for this now.... how many pirates so far?
I'm no pirate but I'm in.
come one come all, and if you keep it quiet, I'm not much of a triathlete
Kate: you need to buy, beg or borrow kit. Of course, you then need to act up to the part.
The rum and parrot stall is at the finish line, in the daaaaarrrrrrrk.
Blisters I'm OK at putting away a pint or two so should be fine.
