Right - conversation had with the wife (do you fancy a week without the kids in the sunshine...I may be popping out for a bit on the Saturday though...and I'm taking my bike...) and the coach, and as soon as payday comes, I'm in!!
Definitely off my list events to do. Knowing how much training various people did and comparing that to assorted bike splits, there is no way I would ever make it around the bike course with enough time/energy to complete
If anyone is interested, my coach Russell Cox is running two week long camps in Lanzarote next year, the last week of Feb and the first week of March, 11-12 weeks before race day.
I went to his first ever one this year along with 14 others and we covered all of the Ironman and 70.3 bike courses in bits through the week and there was an option to do the whole Ironman course in one go on the Thursday.
It's a sign of how good it was that almost all this year's attendees are going back next year for Week 2.
If anyone is interested as it's at an ideal time before IM Lanza race day, let me know and I can point you in the right direction.
Very highly recommend the venue to you. They are used to triathletes and couldn't do enough to help us. In particular, they let us arrive exactly when we wanted and we checked out when we wanted to, ie no kick out at 10am.
It worked out just over £500 each for 7 days all inclusive, flights and transfers. Couldn't book the bike online, but apparently it's £30 return for the bike box when you ring up.
The wife had the final say - this is the first holiday we've had away from the kids since 2006.

this place is indeed recommended! its basic, but fine - but more importantly 200 yards from the finish line and Route 66

Hopefully not!! My OH said yes, but funds say wait till next week!!
She was sold on a week away all inclusive without the kids...even if I'm doing a bit of exercise one of those days
well sitting in a bar right now just by the finish line - lovely view, but it looked a lot nicer on Saturday night
Well, the pirate girls did make a great view.

Staying at the ClubHotel Riu Paraiso which is on the Bike and Run courses and about 10 mins walk from the start/finish.
Was recommended by someone who's raced for the last 2 years and stayed there.

Out of interest, is anyone thinking of a late '13 leg stretcher over on the Island?

Unfortunately Mrs G doesn't do basic...
except in her men ( sorry really couldn't resist that mate - I expect an appropriate punch at the Outlaw )
306 entrants already....not that I'm interested, no, definitely not!! No way!!........
Haha - I'd rather be basic than high maintenance...sadly that's probably not the case
