You did read the replies and not just the title right? He's one of the world's elite at age 16 with no training - either some sort of miracle happened or he got his distance wrong.
Plodder: He is only 16 and it's off natural talent...
Wow. He needs to get down to 13:24 for 100%. He's probably capable of that with just a little bit of training. Tried to put in a quicker time but quickly deleted it as the computer started to overheat.

Scream: A good idea I'd say...
He's not got a spot in the Monaco Diamond League 5000m.
Aw that's a shame...
Mo's heard about him and is sharpening his speed
Yeah, he's got him worried
Scream: It does looks like it
Is 13.38 a competative 5k time for 16 year old:
The answer is most definately yes.

13:38 - you just pipped Mo Farah by three seconds - he gets silver, you get gold in teh 5000m final London Olympics.
Its a shame Matt never came back to fess up to us as to what the error was. My guess remains it was set in k's not miles.
Nothing new from Matt ? We wait with bated breath...

the fact he could do it without any more than a couple of quick stretches by way of warm up makes the achievement all the more miraculous.
He couldn't do it every day mind. Only a couple of times a week
It's like the last 360+ replies didn't happen
Mo Farah hasn't raced 5000m since Matt's original post.
He has raced 3000m and 1500m to avoid this kid !
Poor Mo, he is now reduced to challenging Usain Bolt to a race over 600m to get away from Matt's 5K potential
My GFA calculator gives it at 98.36% so still some room for improvement.

Plodder: Yeah with 1 or even 2 track sessions and a longer run per week he'll do that no problem
As he's just doing it off of 'natural ability' he'll need to be careful he doesn't pick up any injuries if he starts training.
This whole thread gives me bad vibes.
Nothing like a sweeping statement, is there ?
Why? Does Matt's talent make you feel unworthy?
still no sign of Matt?
Maybe he is in Moscow now...
boing...just in case Matt is back and wants to give us an update
Funny, I was thinking about this thread yesterday for some reason
Just like Barton Runner said!
I am sure Lance Armstrong's Doctor could sort him out
Judging by the lack of replies it seems more likely that Michael Jackson's Doctor has got to him.
