Morning all, not been in here for a while, but my sock has been fairly active. I'm still doing the 30 day challenge, albeit even further behind as I forgot about it over the weekend when I went camping . I had pulled a muscle in my upper back when I was doing a stretch that was clearly a bit too much for me, but it is okay now. I do have probs with lower back sometimes, so yeah not doing the crunches, and using swiss ball instead, but I have to admit i'm struggling to keep up with the numbers on those - finding the squats, plank and push ups okay. Off for free 30 min PT sesh at gym on Saturday, so i've spoken to the PT and said I want some core exercises to do that don't involve back flexion, so i'll see what he says. So my 30 day challenge will run up to about mid Oct I think, lol.
Otherwise been doing group exercise stuff in the gym (circuits and other hellishness), and some swimming. Next week i'm starting my 'Autumn training' - i.e. pre-marathon training plan to get my running to a better place before starting Big Sur Mara training plan Sock shall be well and truly stuffed soon I think!
Lee i think i have said this before although its great you are doing stuff it appears to be all over the shop. Consistency and a planned steady development is the way to go for improvement, weightloss and most importantly avoiding injuries that sideline your goals
to be fair RBM i wouldn't say what i'm doing is all over the shop. since i joined the gym my goal was to go three times a week which i've stuck to. The 30 day challenge has been a bit stop-start, but i'm still doing it. Food wise i'm on the right path, though not seeing much weight loss yet, but i've cut the crap, eating real food, planning meals etc. I've got a marathon to train for so i'm starting that next week, well at least building up to the start of the plan in December. So I think i'm doing pretty well- improving where i was anyway
Fair enough Lee its hard to judge sometimes from a few facebook / forum lines glad to hear the diet is going well too apols for any offence but you know me only trying to help with the effort
No offence taken! I know you're trying to help, and I do appreciate your input! You would be proud to know that when folk were beering-it up camping last weekend, I was drinking tea, and only had one small glass of vino with one of the dinners - so small in fact someone asked if it was a child's glass, hahaha.
I've cut right back on the hooch! If I don't have it in the house I can't drink it can I?!! Glad the gentle few plods I've had around my local park are paying off. Seems I've got the VLM to look forward to before Nice now!! Better get stuffing that sock with a bit more regularity!!
Stuffed the sock with a 14km taff trail run last night, then a nice steak in Cardiff. Pint of Barry's Ale IPA. Finished with a 4km recovery run today and a steak and stilton pastie for breakfast.
12 weeks of slow running has resulted in some speed coming back when needed. Other than not finishing work till now life is good
I have a sprint tri tomorrow and the o/w will be cold so it's a compulsory wetsuit, has anyone worn arm warmers under their wetsuit ,and if so, how quickly do they dry out or will it be like two icicles attached to my arms for the bike?
Tj never done it but thinking you might get more benifit from sticking them on after the swim if you wear them in the swim your arm's arn't going to feel any warmer for a bit after on the bike? Swimming will keep you warm to an extent.
Not sure what this means about my sock, but since Outlaw I have lost 8 pounds, dropped a dress size, am officially NOT overweight, for the first time in my adult life, got a PB at Great North, and smashed my fast mile from 7:25 to 7:03 this week.

First exercise in 2 weeks, Tri Club swim session last night and feel OK this morning. Fingers crossed I'm back

Well done hooch is my achillies heel
Mine too, and living in the middle of a rather large wine-growing region it's difficult not to partake!
BI living near to a Morrison's is temptation enough for me never mind a vineyard

Fancied a run tonight and ended up going 9 miles. Not bad for a Thursday night
IronCat I read that as a nice streak in Cardiff
1.5 hrs swimsmooth session with MC and 2 x 37mins bike on beastie hybrid to and from swim session. Sock wet and stuffed.
stupid question time.
I have a sprint tri tomorrow and the o/w will be cold so it's a compulsory wetsuit, has anyone worn arm warmers under their wetsuit ,and if so, how quickly do they dry out or will it be like two icicles attached to my arms for the bike?
last tri of season then sock stuffing starts.

Stick 'em on under the wettie. T1 will be quicker.
Sock has manflu.
Roll 'em into a donut .... quicker to put on
