Morning Sock Shitters!!!! Stuffed a 60Kg deadlift in my sock today, so I'm happy with that!! I got a free 30min PT session when I joined the gym, so I wanted to do a bit of strength training stuff to make sure I was doing it properly. Last time I did a deadlift was probably over a year ago, and maxed at 50kg then! I miss doing all that stuff. May not be able to move tomorrow, but I feel good today Running programme starts next week, so will do some exercise tomorrow and look forward to the plan starting with a rest day on Monday
3 hrs of hilly lumpy things on the bike, lovely day over the downs nodding at other cyclists followed by an hour in the gym to work on the bits that didnt already hurt
There's a steep hill near my house. I have tried to get up it several times in the last two months and every time I have resorted to getting off and walking and generally feeling pretty useless.
Today I made it to the top without stopping - my sock is feeling pretty full right now. Still a long way to go before I get the Strava KOM, but I'm pretty happy with myself.
Well done Exile. I am on operation Oxton Bank - am going to attempt it tomorrow. I know a lot of people don't think it is much, but I haven't managed to get all the way up without getting off so am going to try regularly
Thats the way to go Mathschick .. and also, dont look at the top, just stay 'in the moment' as they say and it will come to you. Ive tried it and it works, if you look at the top your brain will tell you that its never coming, look down a tad and tell your brain you are nearly there
Mathschick come down and do a ride around the Surrey Hills then Oxton Bank will seem a mere pimple. Meldy gives good advice I tried it on a 17% hill short and sharp and got up it, where as before I had to walk and I have now done that hill twice so I know it was not a fluke to do it the first time.
My sh!t has changed, now I have my entry into Nice I want to really do myself justice on this one and inspired by Funkin I want to really push myself rather than always holding back to make sure I finish if thst makes sense
SO
Until training starts properly inFeb its
Work on my swim over winter
Keep up the good work i have started on core strenght by keeping the 100 squat challenge thing and similar going over winter
Do lots of shorter faster tempo stuff to get my speed up over winter
All you speed demons does this sound right or am i missing something?
morning, my sock is still stuffed with snot and has been sat on the sofa for the last few days. The only training it has done has been walking the dog may do some stretching today if my head doesn't go bang when I bend over

Triathlete Europe has loads of info on maintaining speed for IM. Tempo running seems to have become contentious of late, but I reckon it works. It probably does the same for the bike too.
RBM, I expect a Kona-qualifying time from you in Nice next year!!!!!
Tiny bit of sock stuffing today. Went for a swim and did about 400m, most to date, lol. Swimming endurance is pretty low at the moment! Mostly did it to try and ease muscles that are sore from weight training yesterday - didn't work, they're still sore, but at least sock managed to have a dip in the pool, the spa pool, and a wee visit to the steam room
Lee no matter how hard I train that is not gonna happen but with an IM pb of 11:13 albeit on a flat Outlaw course I am gonna try for 11 or under if training goes well .......and then i woke up
Nice bit of MTBing on the moors then some speedwork as i realised i had locked Mrs RBM out of the house and she was due in from work in 30 mins to say i got a bit of a sweat on is an interstate

Training=o back pain=1! When I can bend down again I may be able to partake in some training!
OUch
Swim after work 45 mins resting tomorrow and carb loading lol
Tomorrow's sea swim cancelled due to dangerous conditions, I am most displeased.
Chunky to say the least sea swim off Plymouth Hoe today 15 minutes and we just got fed up of being bashed around
6 mile run on the prom instead, it does look a little feisty out to sea, bad news is I'll have to get in the pool instead.

Hills are easy look 2 to 5 metres in front whilst chanting "its only a feckin hill" or suchlike to the rhythm of you pedalling
Oh and try not to grt any lung tissue on your shoes
Seriously hills are your friend go and find them and keep riding them you will soon develop mountain goat like skills
