My friend Roy Nasr and local Gulf triathlon legend was killed today whilst training leaving a wife and two teenage kids.
He was hit by a drunk driver who left the scene only to be caught later by the police.
Please take care when riding and when you go bed this evening hug your loved ones that little closer.
RIP Roy 'Hammer' Nasr my friend - race hard in heaven

Sad news Snorks
take care of you and yours
Agreed KK but if it spreads the word and makes folk more aware then it's a good thing. I just it would bring Roy back to hs family and friends
Roy was one hell of a triatlhlete and a wonderful person, be careful out there folks
Strange comment KK.
All people who post on online have a "real 3D" life. Nobody communicates solely online. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't so.
Sorry to hear about your friend Snorks.
Sorry to hear about your loss Snorks.
Sorry to hear about your friend Snorks. I hope they throw the book at the driver.
Thoughts are with Roy's family.
Many years ago a club-mate of mine was killed by a drunk driver, the driver left him to die... on Christmas Eve. The Crown Prosecution Service could not be bothered to prosecute, presumably because they felt it was his fault for being in the way.
Thankfully an organisation called The Campaign Against Drinking and Driving got involved, and after they funded a private prosecution, the driver got 3 years. He felt he should not go to Prison because his business would suffer; something he should have thought about before getting behind the wheel?
This UK organisation still exists http://www.cadd.org.uk/ but it is a charity and relies on donations to keep going.
If you feel strongly about this issue I think it is worth a few pounds
"He felt he should not go to Prison because his business would suffer"
I feel anyone should get extra time inside for saying that in court
Snorks, only yesterday I was asking two friends in Dubai whether they thought I could combine a visit to see them with some big miles on the roads out there, which I appreciate are hectic even when the drink drivers aren't about.
They sent me the same link you posted and I looked into the incident further. It's such a sad loss. My thoughts are with his famliy, friends and the community he built around his triathlon club.
I still can't believe it. I don't what to feel at the moment. His poor poor family.
