I'm after joining a club. I emailed a couple but never got a reply so I just left it. I don't know how it all works. So was hoping some members could show me the ropes so to speak. I want to turn training in to more of a social thing, chance to meet new people. Without going to the pub ever weekend.

I would suggest you take all the advice given on this forum but we tend to be boozers with a triathlon problem......
Tri Preston, Tri Team Wigan or Craven Energy Tri Club (Skipton based).
Have you contacted any of these? I'm not a member, as I do my own thing, but I've had dealings with Tri team Wigan and Craven Energy relating to Junior stuff for my kids, and they've been very good.
most clubs put their training days on their website which are usually open to anyone - you just turn up, introduce yourself to someone and join in. You have to be careful you don't turn up on a serious session if you are new to triathlon though as it can be fast. My (running) club do 3 sessions a week. Efforts, club run (for more experienced runners - tempo), and beginners, but there are offshoots on other days!
and instead of email look on facebook to see if they have a facebook page........most do now and you will get more of an idea about the club and most likely to get an answer to your question that an email.
My drinking is nearly as bad a my swimming. Im epileptic so drinking isn't I something I do a lot of. I will try Facebook see what I can find on there. After the amount of replys I have got on here I might just stick to this. You have all been a great help.
Blue steel. What I have done is go on the link cougie has put on, found the closest clubs and had a look on Facebook. I live in Clitheroe in between Preston and Skipton but found there is a club in Clitheroe but I seems a new one so im going to go down and find out a bit more. I did born survivor last week and a 10k in Preston this week and am waiting on ribble to build my bike so not been really focusing tri. Its time to learn a bit more so I can work on it over winter I think. Hope I have helped and not just gone on. Let me know how you get on.

depending where you are in the Ribble valley there's IronHolgs at COLT (City of Lancaster Triathlon)
I am a member of Craven Energy and it is a really good club, but not that close to Preston. Happy to answer questions.
hi kiwi, I'm in a similar situation, not sure who to join! Thinking of Preston as I live in Southport.
