In fairness I think the "taking loads of crap off of everyone, but still coming back for more" award would go to Samir.
Is there any debate about what has been the best thread? If not, is there a sub-category of award for "best moment within the Team GB thread"? I must confess, Samir saying something like "I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but with a gold medal around my neck" made be laugh
Got to admit some of the responses on this thread are hilarious.
Tom, I was in the same boat as you a year ago, except I had even loftier ambitions; take gold in rio, it took me 3-4 months to realise how stupid I sounded and tbh wish I never made that thread. I am running the Great North Run in September and my target is a sub 1:25, deep down I want a 1:20 but I need to run a 5k in around 17 flat within the next 3 months; which is highly unlikely.
I am not the most experienced runner ofc, however over the past year ive done research and talked to some fast runners about what it takes to become even a contender at local races, the advice offered here is sound and you should not ignore it like I did, i'd be suprised if you could run a sub 1:30 in 15 weeks time nevermind a 1:10 (have you changed your goal? I haven't read all the recent posts but I get the impression you have)
