Seems I got the wrong idea. I thought that the Somerset levels were having big problems but even though it is pissing down there today, instead of sorting the problem everyone is having tea with Prince Charles. The guy on the news yesterday was saying that the funds for flood victims was limited but there seems to be lots of money for a Royal visit.

£50 in diesel for the trip down from Highgrove won't break the bank or do an awful lot to shift a load of dirty water. Not building on a flood plain in the first place would have been a better start.
On a side note, on Saturday the Daily Express said the storms will last until spring. Winter weather to last until spring? Wow.
I'm sure prince charles is paying for his visit out of his own vast wealth as well as giving a generous donation to the locals.......
but on the other hand.it is called the somerset levels.there has always been flooding there ever since they drained the land........if you buy a house there its something you have to live with
Somerset is recovered marsh land, always been a problem with flooding Alfred the great hid there dueing the viking wars as the floods gave him protection so it's nothing new.
Only decent question to ask other than why build there is why hasn't the environment agency cleaned the river's in 20 years? Would have still flooded but would have cost the tax payer a lot less.
That's probably the answer still a bit of a farse through. Given that's a highly Conservative area wondering whats going to happen when the floods stop this year. If Ukip or the lib dem's make it a issue might be quite entertaining to watch them panic from the side lines.
Vote UKIP and get a load of Punts ?
I thought they all had 6 fingers and webbed feet in Somerset anyway
They have 2 fingers missing?
The mob that are already in are a load of punts too !
Webbed feet would be useful just now
It seems that you're right.
Oooh bitch
Fact is.. any focus lost on relief efforts, caused by dealing with Charlie boy's visit, will be repaid a hundred times because of all the positive attention he brings.
Apparently, 'kayak' means 'man's boat' in inuit. Make of that what you will.
what positive attention could that idiot bring.....
he could teach people how women are so inferior you can treat them all like whores and they will comply.......
Speaking of which, I found this quite amusing:

Really Peter. Bit old for teens speak aren't we?
So the guy who said there wasn't that much money yesterday is now going to change his mind because Charles has tottered along. He should have just sent the cheque and let them get on with the important stuff and not let the arselickers with chains around their neck get to enjoy tea and cake while there is serious work to be done. Innit
Whats with the money. Are you skint?
🙂
What's wrong with the way I speak, blood? I meant Inuit, of course.
Yeah tell him to shove it up his inukshuk
I would have thought the question to ask was why have all these whinning farmers ripped out all their hedgerows over the last 50 years, allowing excess sediment to flow into their ditches (which they never clear) and allow the sediment to flow into, and then block, the river system. Or is that too obvious ...... easier to blame someone else??!!?
As you were
Oh good point mate hadn't throught of that at all. God my minds stopped working.
Wearing my king of Wessex hat (or crown), please leave the area flooded, I may need a stronghold if the Danes invade again.
Don't you burn any cakes this time mate we might be hungry.
I would love to see you stand face to face with a Somerset farmer and offer him these words of wisdom.
How's their cross country season going. That's what I want to know.
