Completed the Novice Stokesley Duathlon on sunday the race was 3k 17k 3k in 1hr 18mins at 16st 7lbs
i enjoyed the race but found the running hard (not been a runner) especially the 2nd transition with the jelly legs haha
few things to note i did it on my hybrid with skinny wheels but found that everybody on a racer went past me lol so i reckon on a racer i'd be more competitive.
Need to do more running for the next race which is the stockton sprint in a months time which is slightly longer run and cycle and practice the 2nd transition more.
would like to do more events like this at this sort of distance.

Say goodbye to all your money !
Definitely practice the transition. For that distance I'd stick to trainers and use toeclips.
Helwith Bridge Duathlon? 4m/23M/4M utilising the hills of North Yorkshire!
just ordered some Aero bars for my hybrid for the next time out, hopefully make it a little quicker
just looked at that Helwith Bride Duathlon unfortunatly its on my weekend home as i work away every 2 weeks at a time with only the weekend off. i couldn't afford to be away another day from the family.
Aerobars on a hybrid? I would quite like to see how that looks and, more importantly, if it works out for you.
I stand to be corrected, but I think you will struggle trying to get in a tuck position on aerobars mounted on a hybrid.
OK on th hybrid you wont be very low - but you will be a lot narrower
I am duly corrected!
How about this for an mtb/hybrid comuter/touring/tt bike!

(his sister in law is really weird.... But then again she is a Pirate)
The people on slowtwitch would have a fit if they saw that bike. For some reason they're obsessed with the time you could save by taking the front mech off..
can only try and see gotta be better than without, hopefully they'll arive soon and i've got a few weeks testing it out before the next race.
got my Aero bars on last night and went out did a 16 mile cycle and found it quicker need to do a few adjustments to make it better but all in all it seems to have improved speed

Not long now until the MDot tatt.
> Same experience here. Did a thameside duathlon last week as a first and after doing well on the run then being passed a lot on my MTB with slicks I'm looking at carbon bikes. Hit a speed bump in wife who insists I Initially get a cheap one to prove 'stickability' before bigger purchase.
Go second hand, then all she needs to know is how much you saved off RRP.
